EFL CHAMPIONSHIP BETTING PREVIEW
We have 12 Championship fixtures this weekend, and Championship tipster Louie Truman has his Championship best bets and predictions along with Championship betting odds.
The Blues currently sit in 14th, just two places below Derby in 12th. Chris Davies’s side has struggled in recent outings, securing four points from their last five, which was a 1-1 draw against Charlton. Birmingham have a brilliant record at St Andrew's, winning four of their last five. Despite the Rams going on a five-game winning streak at the end of October, John Eustace’s side has only won one of their last five.
Betting Tip: Birmingham Win – 10/13 – BetMGM
Ipswich are in strong scoring form, especially on the counter, which makes them stand out. They’ve scored three or more goals in two of their last three games, while Millwall have managed just six goals across their last five. Millwall come into this game off the back of two poor results: a 2–0 home defeat to Blackburn and a 3–1 loss to Hull.
Betting Tip: Ipswich Win & Both Teams To Score – 7/2 – Betway
League leaders Coventry dropped points again last weekend, drawing with Southampton, so their lead at the top of the Championship is now six points. They were 10 points clear a few weeks ago, but Middlesbrough have closed the gap. Swansea are in decent form, winning three of their last four league games. That run has moved them up to 19th, seven points clear of the relegation zone going into Christmas.
Betting Tip: Coventry Win – 6/11 – Spreadex
Leicester City will go into this match full of confidence after dominating recent meetings with Watford. They have won 8 of the last 10 encounters; the Foxes have also had the upper hand lately, winning two of their last three games against Watford. The Hornets have lost just one of their last five and will be looking to secure important points to increase their chances of a play-off place.
Betting Tip: Draw – 11/5 – QuickBet
Middlesbrough are currently second and will be looking to secure points, which will close the six-point gap between them and league leaders Coventry. Boro lost 2-0 away at Bristol City in their last outing, but prior to this, they won four consecutive games prior to this. Blackburn are currently just two places above the relegation zone, and they managed an impressive 2-0 home win against Millwall in their last game.
Betting Tip: Goal in both halves – 3/4 – PricedUp
The Canaries have fallen below expectations this season; they’re currently just one place above bottom of the league, Sheffield Wednesday. Norwich are three points away from safety and will be looking to secure important points to increase their hopes of avoiding relegation. Charlton had an excellent start to the current campaign, and they looked like play-off contenders, but they’ve dropped off in recent outings, currently sitting in 17th.
Betting Tip: Under 2.5 Goals – 17/20 – BetMGM
The U’s are currently in a relegation place in 22nd with four wins, seven draws and eleven losses. Gary Rowett’s side have secured just one point from their last four, and they come into this fixture on the back of two losses against Preston and Charlton. After a slow start, Southampton have looked better in recent fixtures, securing seven points from their last four.
Betting Tip: Southampton To Win the First Half – 11/8 – Spreadex
Portsmouth’s last six games highlight their struggles: two wins, one draw, and three losses, scoring one goal per game while conceding slightly more. QPR have been in good form, winning four of their last six games and averaging two goals per match. Both teams will be looking to secure important points.
Betting Tip: Over 2.5 Goals – 10/11 – Betway
Sheffield Wednesday have been in financial turmoil this season, which has had a negative impact on the pitch. The Owls are currently 30 points away from safety due to their points deduction; relegation looks likely. Hull have had a brilliant start to this season; they’re currently fourth and will be aiming for a play-off place. The Tigers have won their last three league games against Wrexham, Millwall and West Brom.
Betting Tip: Hull Win – EVS – Spreadex
The Potters had been in the play-off places for the majority of the season, but they’ve lost four of their last five and have dropped to 8th. Preston has surprised many this season. Paul Heckingbottom’s side is currently 5th. Both teams have the potential to secure promotion this season, so they’ll both push for a win and look to gain momentum during the festive fixture run.
Betting Tip: Preston Win/Draw – 31/50 – QuickBet
West Brom sit 16th in the table, just five points behind Bristol. Since joining in June 2025, head coach Ryan Mason guided them to an unbeaten start in their first four games. However, they’ve been inconsistent for most of the season. Bristol beat Middlesbrough 2-0 at Ashton Gate in their recent fixture, and they currently sit in ninth.
Betting Tip: Over 2.5 Goals – 10/11 – Betway
Wrexham are currently 15th, and the Blades currently sit just three places below in 18th. The Red Dragons haven’t won in their last five, and they’ve conceded four in their last two outings. United have looked much better recently, Chris Wilder’s side has managed to beat Stoke 4-0 and Birmingham 3-0.
Betting Tip: Draw – 12/5 - PricedUp
