We have 12 Championship fixtures this weekend, and Championship tipster Louie Truman has his Championship best bets and predictions, along with Championship betting odds.
This weekend’s Championship fixtures start under the lights at Deepdale, with Preston hosting Blackburn in the Lancashire derby. The Lilywhites have surprised many this season; they’re currently 4th in the table with seven wins, five draws and three losses, which came against Portsmouth, West Brom, and Birmingham.
Despite Blackburn having a slow start to the season, they’ve picked up in recent outings with three wins in their last five. Valérien Ismaël’s Blackburn are currently 19th and will be looking to secure three points to boost them further away from the relegation places. Each of the past three meetings at Deepdale has ended in a draw.
Betting Tip: Draw – 11/5 – BetMGM
Bristol City finished sixth last season, so Gerhard Struber’s side will be looking to build on a successful last season and aim to have another top-six finish during the current campaign. The Robins have two of their last three, which includes a 5-1 thrashing away at Stoke. However, in their recent outing, they managed to secure a valuable point away to Watford, who have the second-best Championship record at home.
Following Swansea’s sixth defeat of this season, Alan Sheehan was recently sacked, and Darren O’Dea has taken interim charge. The Swans have conceded six goals in their last two, including a 4-1 home loss against Ipswich. If Swansea win on Saturday, then it could potentially push them 10 points away from the relegation places.
Betting Tip: Bristol City Win – 11/10 – Spreadex
Charlton come into this fixture on the back of a narrow 1-0 loss, away to Wrexham. They’ll be looking to bounce back after the loss against the Red Dragons, which ended their five-game unbeaten streak. After promotion from League One last season, the Addicks have been one of the most consistent teams in the Championship. With six wins, five draws, and four losses, Nathan Jones’ side remains within striking distance of the playoff positions.
Southampton approaches this fixture with renewed confidence following consecutive wins before the international break. Under interim coach Tonda Eckert, the Saints secured wins over QPR and Sheffield Wednesday, netting five goals across the two games.
Betting Tip: Southampton Win/Draw – 4/9 – PricedUp
Coventry have turned the CBS Arena into a fortress, due to their excellent home form. The Sky Blues are undefeated at home with five wins and two losses. In their last outing, Mason-Clark scored in the 86th minute to secure all three points away at Stoke. This result put Frank Lampard’s Coventry seven points clear as league leaders. Ryan Mason’s West Brom come into this fixture on the back of a 2-1 home win against Oxford United, before the international break.
Betting Tip: Coventry Win – 8/11 - Spreadex
Birmingham has delivered some of their most impressive football of the season in recent weeks. Their 4-0 wins over Millwall and Portsmouth highlighted sharp attacking movement and consistent control throughout. The Blues will be looking to make the most of their home advantage, particularly following a defeat at Middlesbrough. Norwich, by contrast, has been struggling, with just one draw and four losses in their last five games. They will need to tighten up at the back and add some creativity in midfield if they are to have any chance.
Betting Tip: Birmingham Win – 18/25 – QuickBet
Derby have been excellent recently, with five wins in a row, which has pushed them away from the relegation zone. The Rams will be confident of continuing their momentum with a win over Watford at Pride Park on Saturday. The Hornets’ only setback in their last five games came against top of the league Coventry, but they have struggled away from home and could face a tough test against one of the division’s most in-form sides.
Betting Tip: Derby Win/Draw – 4/11 – BetMGM
Aiming for an immediate return to the Premier League, Ipswich entered the international break on the back of strong momentum, having dropped just one point across their last four games. Kieran McKenna’s side managed consecutive wins against West Brom and Queens Park Rangers before settling for a 1-1 draw with Watford at Portman Road.
In their last outing, they put four past Swansea. Wrexham made history by achieving three consecutive promotions to reach the Championship, though a fourth successive rise now appears out of reach. The Red Dragons are currently 13th and have picked up form in their last five games, securing 11 points.
Betting Tip: Ipswich Win – 4/7 – Betway
Leicester will be looking to secure back-to-back wins for the first time since August, having earned a much-needed victory at Norwich just before the international break. The Foxes are currently 12th and have fallen short of expectations this season, struggling to find consistency and failing to deliver the performances many predicted.
On the other hand, Stoke are currently flying in 3rd place with three wins from their last four. The Potters have scored nine goals from their last four, highlighting their clinical form in front of goal. The club’s top goal scorer, Divin Mubama, has been in excellent form recently. During the recent international break, Mubama scored three goals for England U21, and he’s managed five goals this season for the Potters, which includes a hat-trick against Bristol City on November 1st.
Betting Tip: Divin Mubama To Score – 23/10 – Betway
Oxford United are just one place above the relegation zone and have not beaten Middlesbrough since 1990. The U’s have lost their last two league games against Stoke and West Brom, so they’ll be looking to bounce back on Saturday. This season, Gary Rowett’s side is struggling, having recorded only three league wins alongside eight defeats. Their recent form hasn’t improved either. Middlesbrough are still without a new head coach in place. They’ve taken four points from their last two league matches and will be hoping to pick up a win at Oxford.
Betting Tip: Middlesbrough Win – 21/20 – PricedUp
Portsmouth have been out of form recently, suffering a run of defeats and managing just one draw. Their defence has looked vulnerable too, conceding 10 goals across their last five matches; A worrying sign against a Millwall side that has shown they can find the net. Millwall’s recent form has varied with two wins, two draws, and one loss in their last five, the loss came away to Birmingham, which ended 4-0. However, their ability to grind out results has been shown in their wins over Leicester and Stoke.
Betting Tip: Millwall Win/Draw – 4/9 – Spreadex
Queens Park Rangers return to action on Saturday, looking to get back to winning ways, which would stop them from moving down the table. They made an encouraging start under Julien Stephan after his summer arrival, reaching 18 points from their first 11 league games. Since then, however, the Rs have been unable to build on that momentum. QPR currently sit in 16th, just nine points above the relegation zone. Hull City appointed Sergej Jakirovi in the summer, and he’s enjoyed a strong start to the current campaign. His side sits fifth in the Championship with 25 points from their first 15 games.
Betting Tip: Under 2.5 Goals – 22/25 – BetMGM
A Sunday lunchtime Steel Derby in the Championship should provide plenty of spark. Despite both Wednesday and United enduring poor starts to the season, this fixture will have Sheffield buzzing. It’s been a chaotic season at Hillsborough. Wednesday has spent much of the campaign battling off-field turmoil, sliding into administration and receiving a 12-point deduction that’s left them on –4 points.
While Sheffield United fans have taken some satisfaction in Wednesday’s struggles, they haven’t had much to celebrate either. The Blades sit just two places above their rivals in 22nd, far from where many expected them to be after last season’s promotion near-miss. In the last five meetings between the two sides, the game has finished 1-0 or 0-0, so Sunday’s fixture is likely to be low scoring.
Betting Tip: Under 2.5 Goals – 19/25 – QuickBet
