EFL League One betting tipster Louie Truman has given his betting predictions for League One fixtures this week, along with League One betting odds and some of the best betting bonuses for League One football.
The Royals have had a challenging start to the season, currently just sitting one place above the relegation zone. However, Leam Richardson’s side have a great home record, securing 11 points from their last five games at the Madejski Stadium.
Stevenage have quickly become the surprise package in League One, putting together a start that suggests they could push for promotion to the Championship. With eight wins, two draws, and two defeats from their opening 12 games, they currently sit fourth on 26 points. A victory against Reading could see them climb to the top, still holding two games in hand over the current top-two sides, Stockport County and Bradford City.
Betting Tip: Draw or Stevenage – 4/11 – Spreadex
The Cobblers host Mansfield, which is expected to be an entertaining League One clash. Northampton will be looking to get back to winning ways after back-to-back 1-0 losses against Reading and Luton. On the other hand, the Stags have been in great form, picking up 11 points from their last five. This includes wins against Rotherham, Luton, and Plymouth. Nigel Clough’s side have only failed to score in one away fixture this season, so they’ll be confident and look to maintain their current form.
Betting Tip: Mansfield Win – 6/5 - PricedUp
Ahead of the clash between Wycombe Wanderers and Leyton Orient at Adams Park, Wanderers arrive in decent form, picking up three wins from their last six home games, while the visitors have lost four of their last five games on the road. The Chairboys have the edge in head-to-head terms with 11 wins in their last 18 meetings against Orient. Despite being separated by just a point in the League One table, this feels like a real opportunity for Michael Duff’s Wycombe to press and close the gap on teams above.
Betting Tip: Wycombe Win – 3/4 – Betway
Evatt was appointed as Head Coach of Blackpool last month, signing a three-year deal with the Tangerines, 12 years after departing the club as a player. Blackpool find themselves in the relegation zone, sitting 23rd in the table with only 12 points from their opening 14 matches. After a strong start to the current campaign, Cardiff City’s form has become more inconsistent in recent weeks.
The Bluebirds have suffered three defeats in their last five matches in all competitions, including two losses in their past five League One fixtures. Brian Barry-Murphy’s side will be looking to bounce back after they were knocked out of the FA Cup first round on Saturday, falling 1–0 to League One strugglers Peterborough United.
Betting Tip: Both Teams To Score – 8/11 – PricedUp
Bolton Wanderers head into the League One meeting with Port Vale in good form, having put together a strong run of results over the past month, securing a 2–1 win over Huddersfield before backing it up with a tight 1–0 league victory against Cardiff City. Wanderers have the home advantage, where they have built a reputation for being difficult to beat at the Toughsheet Community Stadium. Steven Schumacher’s side will be looking to maintain momentum and keep themselves in the upper half of the table. Port Vale, on the other hand, has struggled for consistency. During their recent league fixture, Vale lost 3-0 at home to Stockport County, exposing weaknesses in their defence.
Betting Tip: Bolton/Bolton, Half Time/Full Time – 33/20 – BetMGM
Bradford City will be aiming to extend their solid start to the season as they host Burton Albion at Valley Parade. The Bantams, known for their disciplined defensive structure under Graham Alexander, have shown they can grind out results at home, making this a difficult fixture for Burton. The Brewers will be looking to climb the table with a positive result on the road. John Brayford’s side have only failed to score in one away league fixture this season.
Betting Tip: Both Teams To Score – 19/25 – QuickBet
The South Yorkshire derby is expected to be an entertaining encounter on Saturday. Doncaster claimed a 3-1 victory in their last encounter at Oakwell in the EFL Trophy last season and will be eager to make a statement as the newly promoted side against the Tykes. Grant McCann’s team have shown inconsistent form in League One, accumulating 18 points from 14 matches. In their last five games, Rovers have drawn twice and lost three, leaving them in 13th place in the table. Barnsley’s form has also been mixed, with three losses and two draws from their last five. Both teams are winless in their last five and have struggled for goals.
Betting Tip: Under 2.5 Goals – 11/10 – Spreadex
Exeter will be aiming for a fourth consecutive victory on Saturday, having recorded wins over Plymouth Argyle, Arsenal U21S in the Vertu Trophy, and most recently a 2-0 triumph against Halifax Town in the Emirates FA Cup first round. The Latics make the trip to St James Park after surviving an FA Cup scare of their own, edging past Hemel Hempstead on penalties. In their most recent league outing, they earned a 1-1 draw with Mansfield Town.
Betting Tip: Draw - 21/10 – Betway
Huddersfield began the season brightly but has since slipped away from the play-off picture, though there is still plenty of time to recover. Their issue has been the six defeats and just one draw; too many games in which they have simply unravelled. The Terriers have the home advantage against a Plymouth side who have been poor. Many expected them to be pushing for promotion, but instead, they find themselves in the relegation zone. Tom Cleverley has a major task on his hands to turn things around, with just one win in six and nine defeats overall, leaving them 22nd in the table.
Betting Tip: Huddersfield Win - 5/6 – PricedUp
Peterborough have had a tough season to this point, hovering near the bottom of the table and unable to build any real momentum. Darren Ferguson was sacked as the manager and replaced by Luke Williams. Williams has had a positive impact at the club so far with a 1-0 win against Cardiff City in the FA Cup. For Peterborough, this fixture is far more than a routine league outing—it’s an opportunity to regain belief and help guide Posh away from the relegation zone. AFC Wimbledon have enjoyed a much stronger start to the current campaign, and they’re currently just inside the play-off positions in sixth place. However, they come into this fixture on the back of a disappointing 1-0 home loss against Burton. The Dons have earned praise for their resilience and attacking flair, with several young players making a notable impact in recent weeks. Their strong momentum and growing confidence have turned them into one of the more dangerous sides in League One.
Betting Tip: Both Teams To Score – 10/11 – Betway
Rotherham comes into the fixture with three wins from their last five. Matt Hamshaw’s side has had no problem finding the back of the net in recent outings, with nine in their last five matches. This has been a problem for the Imps in recent outings, with Skubala’s side only scoring two in their last five. I can see Rotherham coming out on top against the Imps.
Betting Tip: Rotherham/Draw – 4/6 – Spreadex
Stockport hosts Luton in what promises to be a tight League One clash. County come into the fixture with strong home form and one of the division’s better attacking outputs, regularly creating chances and controlling games at Edgeley Park. Meanwhile, Luton have struggled for consistency away from home. With the recent appointment of Jack Wilshere, the Hatters have won their last three in all competitions.
Betting Tip: Both Teams To Score – 5/6 - PricedUp
