EFL League One betting tipster Louie Truman has given a betting prediction for every League One fixture this week, along with League One betting odds and some of the best betting bonuses for League One football.
Firstly, let’s start with the Thursday night fixture between Exeter and Plymouth. The Grecians have managed only four wins from their first 13 league games, despite having shown spells of quality; they find themselves in a position where relegation has become a genuine consideration. Argyle are currently in a similar position to Exeter; Tom Cleverley’s side is also on 13 points. The Pilgrims have heavily relied on Lorent Tolaj in recent fixtures. The 23-year-old has scored four goals in Argyle’s last three League One fixtures, so I can see him scoring in the Devon Derby.
Betting Tip: Lorent Tolaj to score – 41/20 – BetMGM
Bolton face league leaders Cardiff. The Trotters will be looking to continue their momentum from their last fixture against Huddersfield, where they scored in the 93rd and 95th minute to win 2-1. Steven Schumacher’s side are currently 7th in the table, they’ll be looking to secure a play-off spot this season. Cardiff City are top of the league with 26 points from 12 matches. Barry-Murphy’s side have maintained a disciplined defensive structure, conceding just 10 goals so far.
Betting Tip: Double Chance Draw or Cardiff – 17/20 – Spreadex
Mansfield will be looking to build on their solid home form when they host Wigan; the Stags have a 60% home win rate, only failing to score in 8% of home matches. Nigel Clough’s side impressed last Saturday, coming away with a 2-0 away win against Luton. Wigan also won their last game, which was 1-0 against Port Vale. However, the Latics have lost three out of their last five.
Betting Tip: Mansfield Win – 7/5 – PricedUp
After earning promotion through last season’s League Two playoffs, the Dons have excellent current form, securing 13 points from their last five. Johnnie Jackson’s side will fancy their chances against a struggling Burton side with one of the league’s weakest away records. The Brewers have managed two wins from their last four, which include impressive wins against Cardiff and Bolton. Albion have lacked goals this season, and AFC Wimbledon have a solid defensive record.
Betting Tip: Both Teams Not To Score – 4/5 – QuickBet
This fixture should be an entertaining encounter with Rotherham coming into it on the back of two wins, and Barnsley have averaged 2 goals scored in their last two fixtures. The Tykes have brilliant current home form; they’ve won their last three out of five home games. Conor Hourihane’s side has won the last eight competitive meetings between the two sides, so I’m going to back a Barnsley win.
Betting Tip: Barnsley win – 5/6 – PricedUp
Richie Wellens’s side has lost four of their last five matches, and they’re currently 15th, struggling to find momentum. After last season’s play-off final defeat against Charlton, many expected Orient to be play-off contenders, but they currently find themselves one point away from the relegation zone. On the other hand, the Imps are flying high this season, pushing for the play-offs. Michael Skubala’s side secured a 1-0 win over Stevenage on Saturday, which ended the visitors’ seven-game unbeaten run. Orient have scored 11 in their last five, and the Imps have scored eight in their last five
Betting Tip: Both Teams To Score – 4/6 – SpreadEx
Considering the Cobblers narrowly avoided relegation last season, Kevin Nolan’s side has had a great start to the current campaign. Northampton have been consistent this season with five wins, two draws and six losses. They’ll be confident against Luton due to the Hatters losing their last two, including a disappointing 2-0 home loss against Mansfield. After back-to-back relegations from the Premier League and Championship, Luton began their League One campaign under manager Matt Bloomfield, but he was sacked due to a disappointing start. The Hatters have recently appointed Jack Wilshere as the new permanent manager, so it will be interesting to see how Wilshere adapts to management and whether he can turn Luton's season around.
Betting Tip: Draw – 23/10 – Betway
It’s shaping up to be a tense clash as bottom-of-the-league Peterborough host Blackpool, who sit just one place above Boro in 23rd. Both sides have had disappointing starts to the season, struggling to find consistency and confidence in front of goal. Darren Ferguson’s side only managed to pick up one point from their first seven league games, but they’ve looked much better recently, winning three out of their last five. Last season, the Seasiders had a season which finished with promise, but the team hasn’t lived up to these expectations. Ian Evatt has been appointed as the new head coach, so he’ll be looking to make an impact on Saturday.
Betting Tip: Draw – 27/10 – BetMGM
The Royals have had an inconsistent start to the current campaign, currently 16th with three wins, five draws and five losses. Noel Hunt’s side have shown better signs at home, managing a 50% home win rate. Doncaster are 12th, which is better than Reading in the standings, but their away form is concerning. Rovers have lost their last three on the road, which includes a 4-0 loss away to Leyton Orient. Reading haven’t lost to Doncaster in their last six meetings (5W,1D), so with Donny’s defensive concerns on the road, I’m going to back a Reading win.
Betting Tip: Reading Win – 6/5 – QuickBet
This fixture promises to be a thrilling clash at the Lamex Stadium, as both teams are flying in League One. Boro have been flawless at home this season, winning all five home games and conceding just once. Alex Revell’s side will be looking to bounce back after a 1-0 away defeat to Lincoln last Saturday. Bradford arguably has the most potent attack in the league, scoring 22 goals in 12 games. Historically, Bradford have had the upper hand in head-to-head encounters, winning eight compared to Boro’s two, but Stevenage’s current form and home advantage make them a real threat.
Betting Tip: Both Teams To Score – 5/6 – PricedUp
Wycombe sit 18th in the table and have struggled for consistency. Due to them being promotion contenders last season, many expected more from the Chairboys. Despite Wycombe sitting in the bottom half of the table, Michael Duff’s side has been difficult to break down in home fixtures. Wanderers are averaging 1.67 expected goals at home, failing to score in only 17% of home matches. On the other hand, Huddersfield are in better overall form and sit in 8th, boasting a strong away record. Past meetings between the sides have often been high-scoring, and both teams are capable of finding the net.
Betting Tip: Over 2.5 Goals – Evs - SpreadEx
Following last season’s promotion, Port Vale have struggled to hit the ground running in League One. They currently sit in 19th, just two places above the relegation zone. Stockport, meanwhile, are flying in 5th place and have been particularly strong on the road. Stockport have won their last four out of five and will be looking to secure all three points away to Port Vale.
Betting Tip: Stockport Win – 8/5 – Betway
