Everton can't beat the big guns

Although Everton have improved massively this season, and currently sit in 9th place, David Moyes' side have struggled at home against the stronger teams.

Both Spurs and Newcastle hammered Everton at their new home, conceding seven goals combined as well as only scoring one.

They have only lost two from their nine matches across all competitions, but at home Everton haven't clicked against teams expected to compete for a Champions League spot.

After a 2-0 loss last weekend vs Chelsea, it was yet another reminder that Everton are still lacking a few players if they are to kick on and secure a top half finish this season.

Arsenal must show more

After losing against Aston Villa in the final minute, and losing their 18 match unbeaten run, Arsenal bounced back quickly.

A 3-0 win on the road against Club Brugge in the Champions League was a solid result - considering they held Barcelona in the previous round to a 3-3 draw.

But Arsenal were less convincing last Saturday. They faced Wolves - and at 1/8 were expected to simply brush their opponents to one side. However, Arteta's side required two own goals - and one in added time - to get over the line.

While that could be seen as a sign of champions, fans will be concerned with the overall performance and will be hoping that fatigue isn't becoming a factor after a hectic period.

Everton have failed to beat Arsenal in their last five attempts (D2 L3). The last time Everton beat Arsenal was back in 2023 at Goodison Park thanks to James Tarkowski's second half goal. However, it's worth pointing out that the Toffees have won three of their last five home games against the Gunners.

Arsenal to edge past Everton

Arsenal (8/11 with Betfred) are almost expected to win every match - but during an incredibly busy period it will be interesting to see if they can keep their heads in front.

Their performance against Wolves wasn't great - but the result was - and that's what will matter come May. They do, however, often struggle against Everton on the road. Arteta will be hoping to break that now Goodison Park is no more.

Everton (9/2 with Betano) are a big price that might entice bettors if they believe Arsenal may deliver another average performance. But their two defeats at home - vs Spurs and Newcastle - are too hard to ignore.

And while Arsenal may not produce three or four goals themselves - especially after not scoring themselves vs Wolves - they should have enough quality to beat Everton. Their big, talented squad is going to come in handy during this period, and they can make it three wins in a row.
