Hosts must improve

Domestically, Galatasaray have been excellent. They sit top of the league with 21 points from a possible 24, scoring 19 goals and conceding just two along the way.

However, they were hammered by Frankfurt 5-1 in their opening match - and the standard outside of Turkey may be too much for them.

They bounced back from that huge defeat with wins over Konyaspor and Alanyaspor - but it's safe to say neither side are anywhere near the level that Liverpool operate with.

Galatasaray will turn towards their Argentinian forward Mauro Icardi to produce a moment of magic, who heads into this clash having scored four goals in his last five matches. Leroy Sane on either flank will also be a familiar threat for the visitors.

Liverpool may have won their first seven games this season - across all competitions - but their defeat vs Crystal Palace at the weekend shows they won't always have it their own way.

Perhaps that result was coming. They have only kept two clean sheets from a possible eight, and so often have left it late to pick up the three points.

Their dramatic wins over Newcastle, Burnley and Atletico Madrid are prime examples that they will fight to the end - but they can't rely on late goals to bail them out each week.

No doubt the atmosphere is going to be lively and intense at Rams Park on Tuesday evening but it will be up to Slot's side to silence them as soon as possible.

Galatasaray have been excellent domestically - as mentioned - and they haven't lost at home in 2025. This isn't an easy place to come and pinch points.

But if ever there was a side to do it, it's Liverpool. On the back of a defeat, Slot won't be happy at all - and he will expect his team to react.

Frankfurt perhaps exceeded expectations with their 5-1 win against Galatasaray, but it also showed against top European sides, they might not be as good as they think.

Liverpool's free-flowing attack is one of the best in the world right now - and even from set pieces they have proven to be very strong. An early goal for the visitors will be key, but if they get that, they can leave Istanbul with another famous victory.
