There are just eight La Liga fixtures this week due to the Spanish Super Cup, which involves Barcelona, Athletic Club, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid.
The remaining matches are spread from Friday, 9 January, through to Monday, 12 January. La Liga tipster Ben Smith has shared his latest selections and match predictions for the round, with each pick matched to the best available La Liga betting odds across the board.
Getafe have been extremely disciplined at the Coliseum Stadium this season. While they hold the third worst attacking record at home, they also boast the fifth best defensive numbers, conceding more than once in none of their eight league matches there.
Three of those fixtures came against sides currently in the top five and all finished as narrow 1-0 defeats. Outside of those games, Getafe remain unbeaten on home soil. Real Sociedad have managed just one away league win all season, and another does not look likely here.

Oviedo have followed three home defeats with four straight goalless draws at the Carlos Tartiere Stadium, a run that does little to suggest they can quickly pull clear of trouble near the foot of the table.
Goals have been consistently hard to come by in their matches. However, Real Betis have also lacked cutting edge away from home, collecting just one point in six of their nine road trips and winning only twice on their travels. With Oviedo games typically low scoring, the draw looks more likely than the odds imply.
Betting Tip: Draw - 13/5 BetMGM
Villarreal have been excellent at home this season. They were beaten by Barcelona in their most recent outing at the Estadio de la Cerámica, but aside from that defeat and a 2-2 draw with sixth placed Real Betis, they have been flawless on their own ground, winning seven matches.
Deportivo Alaves arrive in poor away form, having lost their last five league trips, so the result itself looks fairly clear, which explains the short odds on a home victory.
By combining the Villarreal win with over 2.5 goals, which has landed in each of their last four home matches against bottom-half sides, the price looks much more appealing.
Betting Tip: Villarreal -1 Asian Handicap - 4/5 10bet
Osasuna’s away record looks poor at first glance, but it needs some context. Six of their nine road matches have come against teams currently sitting in the top six, which goes a long way towards explaining those numbers.
Points picked up away at Mallorca and Oviedo show they are capable of competing on the road against sides closer to their own level, so another point here is well within reach. Girona have been inconsistent at home, winning only twice, which makes the draw appealing at generous odds.
Betting Tip: Draw - 23/10 BetMGM
The only real reason Valencia find themselves in trouble is their away form. At the Mestalla Stadium, they have been perfectly respectable, collecting 13 points from nine home matches.
In truth, that return could easily be higher. Valencia have won the expected goals battle in every league game at home, with the sole exception being the defeat to third-placed Villarreal. That suggests their performances have generally been better than the results show.
Elche arrive after being comfortably beaten in each of their last five away outings, and a similar outcome looks likely here.
Betting Tip: Valencia to Win - 5/4 Betway
Rayo Vallecano have played well in recent home matches but have not quite been rewarded with wins. They held firm against Real Madrid, controlled long spells against Valencia, created four big chances but failed to score against Real Betis, and then conceded late on to draw with Getafe.
All four games ended level, despite encouraging performances. A home win feels close, and this could be the spot against Mallorca, who have been poor away from home this season.
Betting Tip: Rayo Vallecano to Win - 10/11 Coral
Luis Castro enjoyed a dream start to his spell at Levante, with a 3-0 victory away at Sevilla in his first match in charge.
They spent long spells under pressure in that game, but they stayed organised and made the most of the chances that came their way.
Replicating that approach may prove far more difficult at home, however, against an Espanyol side in good away form, having won four of their last five on the road.
Betting Tip: Espanyol Double Chance & Over 1.5 Goals - 3/4 QuickBet
Sevilla are arguably the most unpredictable side in La Liga. They have beaten Barcelona 4-1 at home, yet also lost 3-0 to Levante at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium.
A record of three wins, five defeats and one draw underlines just how volatile they have been, making them a difficult team to trust.
Celta Vigo, however, arrive in good away form, winning four of their last five on the road. With Sevilla often vulnerable once they fall behind, a small punt on the visitors looks justified.
Betting Tip: Celta Vigo to Win - 9/5 10bet
