Liverpool must build on win

Having lost their last four Premier League matches, Liverpool returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over high-flying Aston Villa to get back on track.

There's still plenty of work to do in order to convince their supporters the blip is over - but a win against the La Liga leaders would certainly help.

Arne Slot knows better than anyone his team must continue to improve - in particularly defensively - if they are to pick up silverware this season. Still, defeats at Anfield are rare, and Slot has only suffered two defeats there in 2025.

Alisson, Jeremie Frimpong and Alexander Isak all remain on the sidelines for this match.

Madrid a real threat

Xabi Alonso will no doubt get a warm reception as he returns to Anfield but the Spaniard will be solely focused on picking up the three points for his team.

They arrive in tip top form having won six in a row since suffering that 5-2 defeat against Atletico Madrid. Four clean sheets have also followed, proving difficult to break down, as well as beating Barcelona in the league.

Spirits will be high within the camp and with Kylian Mbappe in the form of his life, the Spanish giants will once again be looking to win at Anfield.

Once again Real Madrid will be without David Alaba, Daniel Carvajal and Antonio Rudiger due to injuries.

Over 2.5 goals at 4/9 is way too short to get involved with, but Real Madrid will have their chances, and priced at just shy of evens on the draw no bet line, it's a rather tempting angle I'm happy to stick up.
