With just one defeat from their last 10 matches, Pep Guardiola's side are looking much stronger than this time 12 months ago.

And heading into this important clash on the back of a 3-1 victory against Bournemouth will have given them another boost back in the Champions League.

Unbeaten in three, Man City were minutes away from that being three wins in a row if it wasn't for an Eric Dier last minute penalty in Monaco. But convincing wins against Napoli and Villarreal has put them in a strong position in the early rounds of the group stage.

Dortmund's ex-striker Erling Haaland added his eighth brace of the season to his name for club and country last time out - and no doubt he'll be keen to continue his incredible run of form.

Dortmund not to be dismissed

Dortmund won't be pushovers. Also unbeaten (W2 D1), Dortmund have scored four goals in all three matches to date - and against decent sides, too.

Four against Juventus, Bilbao and Copenhagen will have Guardiola concerned - especially considering Dortmund's solid start to their domestic campaign as well.

The Germans head into this clash having won four matches in a row - only having lost 2-1 against Bayern so far this season.

Dortmund will have a tough time dealing with Haaland, but with eight goalscorers themselves, the Germans aren't quite so reliant on one individual.

These two sides are no strangers to one another in recent years. They have met five times since 2018, although Man City have the bragging rights with three victories over Dortmund.

The last time these two sides met was back in 2022, where Man City came out on top 2-1 at home before drawing the away leg in the group stage 0-0. There's no surprise to learn that Erling Haaland scored the winner on that occasion.

Guardiola's side have only played one home game in the Champions League - beating Napoli 2-0 - but the visitors had 10 men for most of the match and that result can be taken with a pinch of salt.

Monaco also held them in their own back yard - and now coming up against a free-scoring side, it might not be so easy for a Man City side that hasn't kept a clean sheet in their last three matches.

Dortmund (6/1 with Betano) are a huge price. Although it's difficult to see them coming out on top, they have scored 12 goals in three matches. Spread evenly across those games, the Germans are a serious threat to Guardiola's defence.

Instead of backing City at a short price or taking an ambitious punt on Dortmund, it makes sense to continue backing goals in Dortmund's matches - who can certainly score at least one at the Etihad.
