Marseille must win

Marseille head into this key Champions League tie on the back of two convincing Ligue 1 victories. A 3-0 win over Brest was followed up with a 5-1 victory over Nice away from home at the weekend.

At home, Marseille have been excellent. Across all competitions, the French outfit have won six of their eight matches, only losing 1-0 to Atalanta in the Champions League.

They may have lost both of their away matches in this competition - which is why they are languishing in 25th place - but they did hammer Ajax 4-0 at home prior.

With goals clearly not an issue, Marseille will be keen to make the most of their home advantage and continue their winning form.

Newcastle arrive in good mood

Newcastle returned from the international break with an impressive 2-1 win against Man City. A brace from Harvey Barnes in the second half sunk the title contenders to their fourth league defeat of the campaign.

In the Champions League, Newcastle have arguably played their best football, winning three of their four matches. Having only lost to Barcelona, Eddie Howe's side are firmly on track to reach the knockout stage.

Newcastle's sole trip on the road in this competition saw them hammer Union SG 4-0 where once against Harvey Barnes was on the scoresheet alongside Anthony Gordon and Nick Woltemade.

Away form hasn't been great at present, losing their last three, but perhaps the result over Man City will be the confidence boost required on their travels.

With six wins, one draw and one defeat this campaign, it's important to point out that six of those matches have produced over 2.5 match goals. And six of those have seen the hosts score at least two. Marseille also head into this contest in good form.

But so do Newcastle (7/5 with Betano) after their massive win against Man City. Yet that has only lifted them to 14th in the Premier League, and head to France having lost three away games on the bounce.

All three have safely produced over 2.5 match goals, and so with two good attacks on display, the current goal line looks rather generous. There's plenty on the line for the hosts, who will look to take the game to Newcastle - and that could open up the match.
