Newcastle will be looking to build on their 3-0 triumph over Benfica when they entertain Athletic Club on Wednesday evening. Eddie Howe's side have picked up six points from a possible nine, whereas the visitors have lost two of their three matches so far.
Our football tipster Nathan Joyes has looked at the markets and provided his best Champions League bet ahead of an intriguing tie.
After losing against Barcelona at home, Newcastle bounced back with their biggest ever Champions League victory.
A 4-0 hammering against Union SG was followed up with a 3-0 win at home against Jose Mourinho's Benfica.
And although their good form took a hit when losing against West Ham on their travels at the weekend, a welcome return to St. James' Park makes them the favourites to return to winning ways.
That's because they have won their last four matches in front of their supporters - scoring nine and conceding just one.
Their stern defence will once again be difficult to break down and the atmosphere may be too difficult for Athletic Club to deal with.
After beating Qarabag in the previous round, Athletic Club have suffered two consecutive defeats in La Liga. One against Getafe at home and the other against arch-rival Real Sociedad.
They will be looking to stop the rot as quick as possible but their away form is alarming. Since beating Real Betis back in August, Athletic Club have failed to win any of their next five matches on their travels.
In fact, they've lost four and drawn one (Elche away). They were hammered 4-1 away to Dortmund in the Champions League and if they have any kind of ambition to qualify for the next round, results on the road need to improve.
However, with a long list of injuries, that might not be a problem they can deal with straight away.
These two sides last met in 2022 when Newcastle came out on top 2-1 in a friendly. You then have to go back to 1994 when these two met in the UEFA Cup last 16, which saw Newcastle win at St. James' Park 3-2 before Bilbao won the reverse leg 1-0 and progressed on penalties.
With Newcastle much more comfortable at home and Athletic Club struggling to perform away from their supporters, the hosts should come out on top.
Nathan Joyes analyses the Champions League odds and provides his best bet for the encounter.
Newcastle (1/2 with Betfred) are odds-on favourites to pick up another three points but it's not difficult to see why. They were extremely good against both Union SG and Benfica - and the home crowd are very much the 12th man at St. James' Park.
Champions League nights at this venue are very special - and opponents often struggle to deal with Newcastle's energy both on and off the pitch.
And the fact Newcastle head into this match full of life at home after four consecutive wins - and three clean sheets - will make this extremely difficult for the poor travelling visitors.
Athletic Club (11/2 with Betano) are a huge price to come away with three points - but that doesn't look likely. Having drawn a blank in three of their last five away matches, conceding 10 in the process, the visitors can't seem to get going on the road.
Their performance against Dortmund wasn't good enough in their sole away outing in this competition - and if they produce a similar performance Newcastle will secure the points convincingly.
