Newcastle strong at home

Newcastle's performance - and result - was far from ideal last weekend. Losing in a derby, against their recently promoted rivals, is unacceptable and Eddie Howe will demand more at St. James' Park this weekend.

At home, however, is where the Toon Army flourish. Unbeaten in eight, winning seven of those matches, Newcastle have also managed to keep four clean sheets. With the 6th best home form in the Premier League, not many sides are capable of getting points up north.

The hosts will once again turn to Nick Woltemade and Bruno Guimaraes to find the back of net, having both scored five goals each in the league. Can either the German or Brazilian get Newcastle back to winning ways?

Chelsea must improve on the road

Chelsea have slipped to 4th and are currently eight points behind league leaders Arsenal, but do have the chance to temporarily cut that to five on Saturday afternoon.

After failing to win their four previous matches, Chelsea did secure a 2-0 win at home against Everton - but their recent away form needs to improve if they are to trouble either Arsenal or Man City at the top.

Since the beginning of November, Maresca's men have only beaten Burnley, losing to Atalanta in the Champions League while being held to draws against Qarabag and Bournemouth.

Fans will be hoping this is nothing more than a blip - but a win at St. James' Park is always a tall order.

Newcastle vs Chelsea H2H

Chelsea have failed to win any of their last five visits to St. James' Park, last leaving with three points back in 2021. Last season Newcastle brushed Chelsea aside 2-0 thanks to goals from Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes.

Chelsea have won two of their last five against Newcastle, but both were back at Stamford Bridge - and they know how hard it will be to leave with all three points on Saturday.

Their performances at home have been a complete contrast to what they are producing on their travels, and although that needs to change, Howe needs to keep up the momentum during the busy festive period.

Chelsea (17/11 with Betano) have been extremely disappointing for almost six weeks on the road - only beating a Burnley side that has now lost eight matches on the bounce. They haven't enjoyed recent trips to intimidating stadiums - losing to both Atalanta and Leeds in recent weeks.

And St. James' Park can be added to that list. Chelsea struggle up north - especially in this fixture - and although they won last time out, they too are a side that saves their best performances for their home crowd.
