Newcastle head into this difficult looking fixture on the back of two Premier League defeats that has seen them fall to 14th - just two points off the relegation spots.

However, their home form has been slightly better collecting nine points from a possible 15 - including five consecutive victories in front of their supporters. Four of those wins have come with clean sheets - having only conceded one goal against Fulham.

Forward Nick Woltemade who has four Premier League goals to his name scored three goals for Germany during the international break and is very much the main man for the hosts.

Man City are confirmed title contenders

Man City have won four of their last five Premier League matches that has lifted them to 2nd place and only four points behind Arsenal.

Over their last 10 matches, Man City have been pretty much flawless (W8 D1 L1). Since losing to Aston Villa back in October, Guardiola has masterminded four wins on the bounce - scoring at least three goals in every match.

After a 3-1 win against Bournemouth, they scored four vs Dortmund before hammering current champions Liverpool 3-0 at the Etihad. That good run of form has largely been down to Erling Haaland, who has now scored in five games in a row for club and country.

Newcastle vs Man City H2H

Last season Man City comfortably beat Newcastle 4-0 at the Etihad thanks to a first half hattrick from Omar Marmoush. However, the Toon Army held Man City 1-1 back at St. James' Park - a venue that has proven difficult for the visitors in recent times.

Newcastle have managed to beat Guardiola's side once and held them twice in their last five visits, and is often a fixture that produces plenty of drama.

Goals to flow up north

Newcastle (5/2 with Betfred) aren't expected to win according to the bookmakers despite having won their last five matches at St. James' Park.

However, although recent form has been promising, Nottingham Forest, Fulham and Spurs aren't on the same level as Man City - and this will be their toughest test since losing 2-1 at home to Arsenal.

Although their home form has been far superior to their performances on their travels, it's hard to ignore the fact they have lost - and conceded six - against West Ham and Brentford.

Man City (10/11 with Betano) head to Newcastle looking to make it five wins on the bounce. Having won eight of their last 10 - only conceding late on against Monaco and losing narrowly to Aston Villa - Guardiola's squad looks capable of pushing Arsenal all the way.

There are too many flaws in Newcastle's defence - that will be without Dan Burn due to suspension - and Haaland and co can make it count. At almost evens, it's too difficult to ignore a resurgent Man City.
