Newcastle will look to secure a huge three points when they face PSV at St. James' Park in the Champions League on Wednesday. A win would see the Toon Army qualify for the knockout stage, although the visitors are still fighting for their own spot. Can the Dutch outfit spring another surprise in England?
Our football expert Nathan Joyes has analysed the Champions League odds and provided his best bet prediction for the match.
Newcastle may have lost when last seen at home against Man City, but had previously gone 13 matches unbeaten at St. James' Park (W10 D3). Their away woes continued with a 0-0 draw vs Wolves but back at home Eddie Howe will be confident his side can come out on top.
Under the lights in the Champions League, Newcastle fans have been treated to comprehensive wins against Athletic Bilbao (2-0) and Benfica (3-0), only losing narrowly to Barcelona (1-2).
Goals have been shared amongst the team in those wins, with Harvey Barnes, Anthony Gordon, Joelinton and Dan Burns impressing.
There's often nowhere to hide at St. James' Park which will once again be incredibly loud as they look to confirm their place in the knockout stage.
Howe has a whole host of injuries to deal with, but fortunately for the head coach no one major will be missing.
PSV head to Newcastle having won their last six matches across all competitions. Having previously won 4-1 at Anfield, the Dutch outfit must be taken seriously on Wednesday evening.
Sadly PSV were unable to build on that performance and result, falling short against Atletico Madrid (2-3) which leaves their chances of progressing to the knockout stage finely poised.
Away from that cracking result at Anfield, PSV haven't lost on their travels yet. They held both Leverkusen (1-1) and Olympiacos (0-0) to draws.
A negative for the visitors is the absence of forward Ricardo Pepi. The American forward has scored 11 goals this season, including three in five Champions League matches, but he won't make the trip due to a broken hand.
Moroccan duo Anass Salah-Eddine and Ismael Saibari will also miss out due to their AFCON final only being played on Sunday.
These two sides haven't met since a friendly all the way back in 2010 where they shared a 2-2 draw. Rewind six years, and both teams faced each other in the UEFA Cup, where Newcastle edge PSV out 3-2 on goal difference. Go back to 1997, and these two came head to head in the Champions League group stage, where PSV won both matches without conceding.
Although Leverkusen have won their last two, Newcastle pose an entirely different threat and the visitors can record their fourth Champions League win of the campaign. Nathan Joyes provides his Champions League best bet for the match below.
Newcastle (4/9 with Betfred) are short priced favourites but with PSV (5/1 with Betano) missing so many key players it's understandable that the bookmakers don't want to take any chances.
The hosts have been almost flawless at home across multiple competitions, and the manner in which they beat Athletic Bilbao and Benfica will have PSV worried.
The Dutch outfit will still be confident they can rock the boat due to their unbeaten away record - and magnificent result vs Liverpool - but this looks to be a difficult task under different circumstances.
Newcastle may have drawn with Wolves at the weekend, but their performances at St. James' Park have been far superior to those on the road and Newcastle can get the job done in style.
