The Premier League returns for another key weekend, with the picture at the top shifting again last week.
Liverpool slumped to another defeat, losing 3-0 at home to Nottingham Forest, while Manchester City’s title hopes took another dent after they were beaten at Newcastle United. Arsenal are clear at the top after beating Tottenham, and they now face their nearest challengers, Chelsea, at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Premier League tipster Ben Smith has put together a five-leg accumulator for this weekend’s fixtures, which run from Saturday, 29 November to Sunday, 30 November. All selections are with Betway, who offer a wide range of Premier League odds across multiple markets.
Manchester City’s defeat at Newcastle last Saturday ended a run of four straight victories in all competitions. It was one they could not really afford, as it allowed Arsenal to open up a seven-point gap over Pep Guardiola’s side.
They made changes at home to Leverkusen in the Champions League and were beaten there, so it is important that they get back to winning ways against Leeds United to keep things moving in the right direction.
Erling Haaland was rested from the start on Tuesday and will return here, looking to keep up his outstanding goal record. He has outscored City’s opposition at the Etihad in their last three league games, and that is a trend that is likely to continue here against a Leeds side who have lost five out of six on the road.
Brentford’s only home defeat this season came against Manchester City. They’ve been excellent in all other fixtures at the Gtech Community Stadium, scoring a dozen goals across those five outings and picking up 13 points.
They’ve not been completely tight at the back, though. Both teams to score has landed in four of those matches, and Burnley are offering more than enough on the road to make the BTTS angle appeal here.
While the Clarets have lost five of six away from home, they’ve been competitive in most of those games, scoring in each of their road trips except for the opening day at Spurs.
At odds against, this is a combination I’m happy to be on board with.
Idrissa Gueye’s red card at Old Trafford for an altercation with teammate Michael Keane could have been a nightmare for the Toffees, but instead it led to one of their most inspired victories in recent memory, as they took and protected a lead at Old Trafford and moved level on points with the Red Devils.
Now they return home, where they have broadly been excellent this season, to take on a Newcastle United side whose away form will be a huge concern for Eddie Howe.
Having drawn 0-0 in their first three road trips, the Magpies have since lost three away league games on the bounce, and they continued their travelling troubles with a 2-1 defeat in Marseille in midweek.
Having had an extra day to prepare and no overseas travel during the week, this looks a good spot for Everton, who have not seen any of their games at the Hill Dickinson Stadium go over 3.5 goals.
Wolves acquitted themselves well against Crystal Palace last week, but failed to take their chances and the 2-0 defeat was an instant reminder to new manager Rob Edwards that he has a huge job on his hands at Molineux.
They’ve suffered six defeats on the spin, conceding 17 goals across those fixtures.
A trip to Aston Villa is therefore somewhat daunting, given that Unai Emery’s men have won four on the spin in all competitions and seven in a row at Villa Park.
Most encouraging for Villa is that their goals are spread out across the squad. They should net more than once here and keep their impressive run going.
Arsenal’s dominant win over Bayern Munich in midweek cemented their claim as being the best team in the world on current form.
Previously known for being efficient, defensively sound and dangerous from set pieces, the Gunners have added a new swagger to their play, with summer arrival Eberechi Eze now fully settled into life at the Emirates.
What they are yet to face is a big Premier League away trip against a fellow Champions League side and potential title challenger. Chelsea have won three league games on the spin and, like Arsenal, also secured a home triumph over one of the biggest sides in Europe in midweek as they swept Barcelona aside 3-0.
Still, Arsenal have fewer doubts over them, and they can take at least a point here, though a clean sheet will be hard to come by.
