PSG must bounce back

PSG's Champions League campaign has been up and down and after their 2-1 defeat last time out against Sporting, there's little room for error for the reigning champions.

A last minute Luis Suarez striker has put PSG in danger of not automatically qualifying for the last 16 - who may need to win their third home match in order to secure that spot.

Despite losing 2-1 to Bayern, PSG have been very strong at home with a dominant display against Atalanta (4-0) and entertaining affair when Spurs made the trip to Paris (5-3).

Luis Enrique is dealing with a number of injuries, but his team head into this clash after an important 1-0 win over Auxerre that leaves them top of their domestic table.

The Spaniard has enough quality in his squad to secure another important win - but will need to make sure they don't concede cheap goals as they did against Tottenham.

Newcastle need to dig deep

After a 2-0 home defeat against Aston Villa at the weekend, Eddie Howe's side have little time to lick their wounds before heading to France to face the Champions League champions.

Impressive home form has kept Newcastle firmly in the hunt for a spot in the last 16 - but they may need to win in order to maintain that spot.

The Toon Army haven't been solid on their travels this season. They head to Paris having won just two of their last 10 away matches across all competitions - and wins over Burnley and Everton won't exactly concern PSG too much.

They did hammer Union SG 4-0 in Belgium as well as draw with Leverkusen in Germany - but they have been a different side away from St. James' Park which could hinder their final position coming up against the reigning champions.

These two sides clashed in the 2023 Champions League group stage in the old format, where Newcastle came out on top 4-1 at St. James' Park before drawing 1-1 in Paris. Alexander Isak's first half goal looked good for all three points before Kylian Mbappe's 98th minute penalty salvaged a point.

PSG to put on a show

PSG (6/11 with Betfred) run riot against Spurs and Atalanta at home - and those results and performances should be enough to convince many that a third win is possible.

Newcastle (9/2 with Betano) have been poor on their travels - and this is without doubt their toughest task to date. Facing PSG at the best of times is always an uphill battle, but playing them in their own back yard when they need to win is something else.

The hosts have scored 10 at home in three matches - nine of which came in those wins against Atalanta and Spurs - and it's difficult to see this game finishing without hitting the over 2.5 goal line for a fourth home match in a row.

Newcastle haven't looked at their best in recent weeks - and although PSG are making their Ligue 1 defence more difficult than required, they have looked a different beast at home in this competition.
