Burnley have a big game ahead of them this weekend at Turf Moor as they play host to Manchester United on Saturday evening. As it stands the home team are 7/2 to get 3 points out of Manchester United who have opened up as 8/11 favourites, but both teams come into this week in poor form so it may not be as clear cut as what the bookies make it out to be.
Neither have started this season playing very good football and if you are backing Manchester United at 8/11, then you are having to take the price on trust with the team yet to really get their season underway. I have some strong opinions on this game but before we get onto those, let’s take a closer look at both of the teams.
Burnley have only played four games this season thanks to their week 2 postponement and although they lost the first three of them, they did play some handy football and got a decent point away at Nottingham Forest last week so even though they are slim on points right now, they definitely play well enough to gain plenty of points over the campaign. They are quite an all-round team so I wouldn’t be surprised to see them score against Manchester United who will be desperate for 3 points.
United have played 5 league matches themselves, winning two but losing three and won’t want to drop another 3 points here so early on in the season. The three losses have been against high calibre opposition, but it is still a worry that Manchester United have been dismantled rather easily. They lost in their Champions League opener against Bayern Munich too.

In the last 5 meetings between Burnley and Manchester United it is the visitors that have won 4 of those meetings and the other encounter was played out as a draw, but it’s hard to use this as adding too much insight to the match this weekend as United team are well out of form and look vulnerable at the back. Burnley being at home may give them some help in front of their Turf Moor crowd and may I think this match is going to turn out to be a little bit tighter than what the bookies think.
Burnley come into this weekend's game without Lyle Foster due to suspension and even though they have only picked up one point so far, they have been playing some solid football and shouldn’t be ruled out. They tend to be quite consistent with their performances and I do think they will cause Manchester United problems.
United themselves are a team well out of form at the minute and they could really do with a good performance here. Ten Haag's team are struck with a fair few injuries, but they do have enough depth in the squad for that not to be a too much of a concern and should fancy their chances on paper but the lack of confidence in the team is a big worry in my opinion and I think they are going to struggle again at Turf Moor.
I think they will score, but I also think Burnley will too and would not put anyone off backing Burnley to get their first win of the season. I think from a punting perspective it would be worth backing the draw here at 3/1 but I also think a 2-1 Burnley win at 12/1 could be some good value too as a long shot pick. I am more than willing to take on Manchester United in the current form.
Best Bet: Draw at 3/1
Correct Score: 2-1 win Burnley @12/1
