Just to mention firstly that there is now a weekly recap show, where I will review all of my selections from the previous week. Head over to my YouTube channel to check that out. Below are my selections for Friday’s ITV racing. Thank you for all of your support so far, and don't forget to check out my socials @gingerjoeracing on YouTube, Instagram, Twitter & Facebook for daily updates!
Danger:- FIND @ 8/1
FIND is the one that I think has the most solid profile for this event although I do think he may “FIND” one too good in this. He has been nicely progressive and is sure to run a big rave but the one I think it is worth siding with could be RAZZLE DAZZLE from the Richard Hannon team.
He built on a good debut when finishing runner up in a sustained battle to a Godolphin type by bolting up on his second run by nearly 6 lengths. He was really green in the final furlong too and clearly open to a ton of improvement off the back of that.
He drifted a long way left across the track but was still putting distance between himself and his closest rival which just shows me he has a huge engine. He is the one with more to offer for sure and his trainer, Hannon, is a bit of a master when it comes to 2y-o’s. I think he is the value bet at 5/1 with more improvement almost certain.
Danger:- CORAZON @ 5/1
ARMOR heads the betting and rightly so. He sets a clear standard and although he is just 7/4. I think there could be a lot more left to come from him still and the price reflects his chances. He finished fifth behind the re-opposing CHIPOTLE before decisively reversing that form when he won the Molecomb stakes with a fair bit in hand and that was a hot Group 3. All three of his runs up to that point had all been over 5 furlongs.
He stepped up to 6 furlongs on his latest start where he contested in the Group 1 Prix Morny over at Deauville, and stayed on well to finish a close up 4th. The drop back to 5 furlongs here where he won over C&D previously is sure to suit and he is definitely the one to beat. CORAZON may prove best of the rest but this one to me looks fairly clear cut based on what we've seen so far.
Danger - RODRIGO DIAZ @ 7/1
STRADIVARIUS isn't getting any younger, but he is still clearly the one they all have to beat in this. He won this in 2019 and has won 7 Group 1’s in his career so far and it will take a big performance to get him beat here. He may not be at his peak form - however, he showed he still has every bit of his attitude and love for the game when holding on all out to beat Spanish Mission in the Lonsdale Cup last time out. TRUESHAN is just one of those horses that I haven’t latched on to. I’m just not convinced by him yet.
RODRIGO DIAZ however is one I think will really appreciate this test. He was runner up to SCARAMANGA over 2 miles and looked every bit a stayer before finishing best of the rest behind the progressive HUKUM over a bit shorter last time and would be the main danger for me. I think he is capable of running a big big race under Jamie Spencer here but I do think STRADIVARIUS gets the job done just about.
Danger - PRINCE ALEX @ 5/1
UBER COOL is a really interesting runner in this and for a 7y-o he is relatively unexposed still. He has had his problems in his career but has had a stress free campaign this year and I think that he could be ready to strike.
He ran a real eye catcher last time and had it all to do 2 furlongs out but he knuckled down and made up rapid ground in the final furlong and could be ready to pounce again, but from a better position this time. PRINCE ALEX is likely to be popular but at the prices I would just give the edge to UBER COOL who is likely to really enjoy it here at Doncaster.
Danger:- ABLE KANE @ 13/2
RAATEA, the ex-Shadwell horse, has taken a while to get the hang of things for his new connections but he raced really well last time out, and this run was long overdue. Nonetheless he won very stylishly. He has a seriously unusual attitude to racing and is one to back with a little bit of caution but on a going day I think he is the one to beat and off the back of his latest win I think he may be worth siding with once again this time.
Not one for the multiple bets but worth a good single at the prices. Could be ready to go in once again he has just taken a bit of time to wind up. ABLE KANE is likely to go well under champ Oisin Murphy but may have to settle for the minor honours once more.
