J: Miss Sarah Bowen / T: Tony Carroll
SOCIAL CITY is my idea of the winner in the finale race on the Ffos Las card and the Tony Carroll team have been in fine form of late. SOCIAL CITY has been highly tried and ran his race even when the bookies have given him next to no chance. He rarely runs a bad race and the 3lb claimed from Sarah Bowen will make a handy difference.
He had two placed efforts over this trip in February and up against a decent field on the first of those and in similar conditions to this event. He then finished best of the rest when he stayed on behind Summers Knight on his last run and although no match for the winner he finished his race well and looked like he would relish this step back up in trip.
J: Oisin McSweeney / T: Kevin Ryan
MAKALU I think is a really interesting contender in this race. He ran really well on racecourse debut to finish third before putting up two really disappointing efforts on his next two starts and didn't really show an explanation for it either. He was however really good last time out when he won well despite being lit up in the stalls and being slowly away.
He was also outpaced during the race but was still able to get up and get the job done, and he is likely to relish the step up in trip here considering all he did wrong last time. Oisin McSweeney takes off a huge 7lb and he is one of my favourite young jockeys out there at the moment enhancing the chances of my selection. He is open to much more on this trip and good value for the 9/2.
J: Oisin Murphy / T: Mark Johnston
TOUSSAROK gets in the Lucky 31 for multiple purposes and I think he just goes and wins this race. I think it sets up perfectly for him and with champ Oisin Murphy on board only enhancing his chances you'd have to say he is going to be very difficult to beat.
He has become a real consistent tough looking 2y-o and he is really starting to learn his craft well. I think he has the class edge over these and can be ridden from the front or back so tactically versatile and very much the one to beat here.
J: Sam Twiston-Davies / T: Nigel Twiston-Davies
BALLYELLIS just misses out on the NAP position, but I think he has a massive chance of getting the job done in this 4 runner chase event. MONTANNA does deserve to be favourite after bagging 2 chase wins already this term but didn't quite stay the trip last time and actually goes a little further again.
BALLYELLIS however takes his chance over the larger obstacles for the first time in his career at the age of 8 but is likely to relish them coming out of the Twister stable. He has raced up to 3m1f over hurdles and the extra trip doesn’t look like it will be an issue and will actually more likely play to his strengths and help in the jumping department.
Sam is back on board this time. He has a good win on my selection around this time in 2019 and BALLYELLIS went on to rack up another two or three wins in the same month so could be bang ready for this. He takes a drop in class for his first time over fences and could well be up to this.
J: Sean Kirrane / T: Saeed bin Suroor
ROYAL PARTNERSHIP will take all of the beating in the 3.40 especially after making all last time out to break his maiden. He ran really well and this was a drastic step up in trip, double the trip in fact. He had gone from 6 furlongs all the way up to 1m2f and he managed to get the job done even when he was strongly challenged by the runner up in the final furlong.
He battled well and would have learnt so much from the first attempt at the trip. He’s likely to do better again and although he has some interesting rivals, he has a slight touch of class about him and a very interesting contender for the Godolphin camp who only send out 1 runner over the entire UK which is a slight tip in itself. Big chance at 11/4!
