West Ham vs Chelsea Predictions and Betting Tips - 20th August 2023

West Ham and Chelsea will face off for the first time this season on Sunday, a fixture known for its entertainment value. Given the unpredictable nature of this match-up, it's hard to pick a clear winner. Both teams, with their European Football aspirations, are eager to secure a strong start and the coveted 3 points. Fresh from their European trophy win last season, West Ham enters this match with heightened confidence. On the other hand, Chelsea's squad quality makes them a formidable opponent. Before delving into my predictions, let's review their recent form.

Recent Form

Both West Ham and Chelsea started the season with draws, leaving them slightly disappointed. West Ham's match against Bournemouth saw them relinquish a 1-0 lead after Dominick Solanke's 83rd-minute equaliser. Chelsea, despite their spirited comeback against Liverpool, missed several opportunities to clinch a win. Both teams will be eager to rectify their initial stumbles, and I anticipate an exciting match ahead.

Head To Head

Chelsea might have the upper hand in recent encounters, winning 4 out of the last 5 matches. However, West Ham's home record is commendable, with 3 victories in their last 6 home games against Chelsea. Historically, their matches have been closely contested, and I expect a similar intensity this time around. West Ham's home advantage might give them an edge, but Chelsea's impressive performance against Liverpool suggests they're up for the challenge.

West Ham vs Chelsea Best Bets

Before discussing my bets, let's glance at the team news. James Ward-Prowse is slated to debut for West Ham, a promising addition to their squad. While Paqueta's future remains uncertain, David Moyes confirmed his participation unless there's a last-minute transfer development. Chelsea might introduce Caicedo, their new signing, but their injury list could hinder their performance. Despite these challenges, Chelsea's commendable play against Liverpool indicates they're a force to reckon with.

Considering the dynamics, I recommend the following bets: "Both teams to score" at 4/6 seems reasonable, though the odds might be slightly short. If West Ham takes an early lead, it might backfire, potentially setting the stage for Chelsea. Therefore, I'd suggest betting on a 1-1 scoreline at 11/2 and also backing Chelsea to win with both teams scoring at 11/4.

Summary of my West Ham vs Chelsea Betting Tips

• Best Bet: Chelsea Match Result and Both teams to score @11/4
• Correct Score: 1-1 Draw @11/2
