ALLAVINA will have to compete against an odds-on shot from the Nicky Henderson team tomorrow, but I think she certainly has enough about her to get the job done, even off top weight.
She won three notable Novice Hurdle races last year and although she flopped on her Chase debut, she took a big step forward on her next outing, following wind surgery. Tomorrow’s race, with a drop in grade, but a step up in trip looks ideal for her.
At 6/1 the price feels wrong, based on the credentials she has to offer. I would definitely rather be taking that price over the even-money favourite any day of the week!
PATIENT OWNER has very low mileage, but he has shaped-up nicely enough to think he has a good chance in his Handicap debut. He has also been given a workable mark, considering he has shown signs of some pretty sharp ability to date.
He ran a belter in his only previous start at Punchestown last March and has shaped well over Hurdles since. His latest run at Chepstow was really eye-catching, considering the heavy ground. He should find Friday’s Bangor conditions much more suited to him.
A tad short in the betting, but bear in mind he is open for significant improvement and could well be worth taking a chance on.
