For this week’s golf betting tips, I have a total of 10 selections for you to look at, across two big events. For the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship on the DP World Tour event I’ve put up a six-man squad and then for the Sanderson Farms Championship on the PGA Tour, I have four very decent players lined up.
I feel really good about both of the squads I have put up for this week, but I am particularly keen on my first three DPWT selections. In terms of betting, I have added advisory notes for each selection, but in addition to the single bets, I’ll also be playing EW cross-doubles this week too. For those I’m using my first three DPWT players and combining them with all four of my PGA Tour selections.
William Hill is one of my all-time favourite bookies and they have a cracking new sign up offer you might want to take advantage of. If you bet £10, you will get £30 in free bets which will cover all of my winning picks for this week. Better still, William Hill has eight places on offer for both of this week’s golfing events.
The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship takes place across three different links courses: the Old Course at St Andrews, Carnoustie and then Kingsbarns to finish. These are three seriously tough courses and it will take a solid week of consistent golf to be in with any sort of chance this week. Shot shaping round these courses isn’t a must, but a controlled trajectory is, because finding the flat spots on these greens is the only way to make birdies this week.
My strongest betting tip for this week’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is Alex Fitzpatrick, who has done nothing but improve all season long. He finished second in the ISPS Handa, fifth in the European Masters, and I think it’s only a matter of time until Alex Fitzpatrick breaks his maiden on the DP World Tour. He is really well adapted for links golf, has had some strong finishes this season and for me, he’s the standout player for this week's event.
I think Billy Horschel is in with a chance here. He’s a seven-time winner on Tour and he’s got some decent form on links courses, having finished 10th in this event last season. He’s been pretty solid this year too, with a fourth in the Wyndham Championship (which he won last season) and three good finishes on the DPWT, including Top 20s in both the BMW Championship and the French Open. He’s had a solid season, comes into this event in good form and I think he is sure to finish high on the leaderboard.
Everyone talks about how consistent Alex Bjork has been on Tour this season, but in my eyes, Joost Luiten is equally good. He’s had eleven Top 20 finishes, which include seven Top 10s and he will be solid all week, you can be certain of that. He is already a six-time winner on the DP World Tour, he’s as versatile as a player comes and he has a magnificent iron game, which will really help him this week. He already knows how to win and he’s sure to put on another solid performance over the three courses.
Callum Hill is one of two Scottish players that I fancy this week and he is another like Joost who has a really good iron game. He has plenty of experience on all three courses and is good at controlling his trajectory which will be a massive help this week on the links golf courses. He is a DP World Tour winner from back in 2021 and seems to be finding some really good form again this season with a handful of Top 10s and comes into this week after a really good week in the French Open.
The second Scottish player in this week’s squad is David Law, who won a DP World Tour title back in 2019 and like fellow countryman Callum Hill, is playing some really good golf of late. He had Top 10s in the Porsche European Masters and in the Scottish Challenge and he hasn’t missed a cut since. He is in good form physically and mentally and at 100/1 David Law is well overpriced for his ability to play great links golf.
My final selection for the Alfred Dunhill is Oli Bekker, a South African golfer who gave this event his best shot last season. He played well throughout, but let himself down a little in the final round, clocking up a score of 78. Links golf really suits his game, he likes to move the ball about quite a bit and uses different trajectories to control his spin, which helps massively on links courses. You are taking a chance on him closing out the tournament better this year, but if he starts well this week, then he’s in with a shout and there are definitely worse 200/1 shots out there.
Proceeds from the Sanderson Farms Championship go to a charitable cause, so it is always a well-supported event. It’s played at the privately-owned Country Club of Jackson in Mississippi and presents the players with a parkland-style course that features some incredibly tricky greens, so distance, and flight control are absolutely key here.
My first selection for the PGA Tour is going to be Beau Hossler. He hasn’t won on Tour so far, but he has an abundance of talent and has had some good results. Beau will be desperate to break his duck on Tour and is definitely going in the right direction. He plays with plenty of flare, he has the ability to go really low and this course should suit his game very well indeed.
Next up is a player who makes my squad for the first time and that is Alex Smalley, who is turning into a fantastic golfer. He has struggled in his last three, but played really well in the John Deere, finishing in a tie for 2nd and the track this week is not too dissimilar. This is a really good opportunity for him to get his first win on Tour and I think Alex Smalley will play well this week.
Seonghyeon Kim is a supremely talented player who really got his act together a couple of weeks ago to finish second in the Fortinet Championship. I’m hoping that he’ll be able to build on that performance this week and if he does, he has an outstanding chance this week. He has been very hit and miss this year, but his Fortinet result was a big step back in the right direction and I feel he will give this week’s event a really good go. He’s good value at 33/1 if he turns up in the same sort of form.
Luke List is a previous winner on Tour and one that has found his form in recent months. He had a serious problem with his irons during the earlier part of the season, but he definitely seems to be overcoming that now and he’s been really tuned in for his last few tournaments. He has a big chance in this week’s diluted field and that makes his 50/1 price tag very tempting indeed.
