Golf | The 2021 Masters is Almost Here!

The first golf major of the year will begin on April 8, and there’s a lot of excitement around this year’s Masters – and so there should be!

Following the delayed 2020 Masters that took place in November of last year – thanks to the global pandemic – at least golf fans haven’t had to wait a full year to see the next Masters action.

The 2020 Masters champion and world number 1 Dustin Johnson will be returning to Augusta to defend his Masters winner status, especially after his green jacket win in a record-breaking fashion last year.

The Masters

Unlike the other majors in golf, The Masters has, and always will, be held at the same golf course – the infamous Augusta National Golf Club.

This year will be the 85th edition of the prestigious major, and spectators will be back in attendance after not having any at last year’s event. A number of 88 golfers will be in action between April 8 and April 11.

As we’ve already mentioned, 2020 winner Dustin Johnson will be looking to be successful in consecutive years to get his hands on another Green Jacket, as well as a purse total of $11,500,000.

Meanwhile, the rest of the players will have their sights set on Johnson, and will have to perform at the highest level to knock him off the top.

Golf Majors in 2021

With the world beginning to get back to a sense of normality, so is the golf calendar for 2021. Following The Masters, the PGA Championship will take place between May 20 and May 23. This year’s major will take place at The Ocean course at Kiawah Island – a picturesque golf course in South Carolina.

Then, less than a month after the PGA Championship, the US Open will be upon us, taking place in the middle of June in California. The final major of the year – The Open Championship – will be held in July at the Royal St George’s Golf Club in Kent, England.

There’s a lot of golf to look forward to, and it’s The Masters that will kick off these majors in entertaining fashion.

The Masters Odds & Predictions

It may come as no surprise that with most bookmakers, Dustin Johnson is considered the favourite to win the 2021 Masters. Also favoured are fellow American golfers Justin Thomas and Bryson DeChambeau, as well as Spain’s Jon Rahm in the running.
