It’s Day 3 of the Cheltenham Festival and I have another Lucky 15 for you! Yesterday’s Lucky 15 was profitable after Jingko Blue won the BetMGM Cup in great style at 10/1 and Break My Soul was beaten by less than a length in the Grand Annual! The other two runners, Bossman Jack in the Turners Novices’ Hurdle, and Quiryn in the Champion Bumper, also ran great races in defeat, with the former looking set for a place at least before making an error at the last! For today’s Lucky 15, all four horses look to have a fantastic chance, and I'm very hopeful of places, or better. As well as the races covered in this Lucky 15, I have also covered the Ryanair Chase, which is today's feature race, so be sure to take a look at that one too.

Betting advice - An each way Lucky 15

14:00 Cheltenham - Jack Richards Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase - Meetmebythesea @ 13/2 (5 places, ¼ odds)
15:20 Cheltenham - Stayers’ Hurdle - Ballyburn @ 13/2 (3 places, ¼ odds)
16:40 Cheltenham - Pertemps Network Final - Bold Endeavour @ 7/1 (5 places, ¼ odds)
17:20 Cheltenham - Kim Muir Handicap Chase - Jeriko Du Reponet @ 9/2 (4 places, ¼ odds)

William Hill stand out with their odds on offer for this Lucky 15!

At the time of writing, the combined odds for these four horses vary from 1,322/1 to 2,249/1. However, William Hill have the best horse racing odds by far, with a combined price of 2,474/1. In addition, they are also paying out 1/4 odds for places, which is great! The value doesn’t stop there either. If you sign up and bet £10, you’ll get £30 of free bets. It really is superb value all round from William Hill on this one!

All four of these horses are capable of outrunning their odds!

With a Lucky 15, there are two different ways to play it. The first one is to aim for short priced selections which have an extremely strong chance of simply winning their races. The second option is to aim for value prices where money can be made from a place only and if they can win their races, it’s a bonus! As a general rule, I opt for the latter as I’d much rather aim for value away from the top of the market and that is what we’ve done today. We do have one at the top of the market in Jeriko Du Reponet but he’s available at 9/2 currently rather than a short price.

Meetmebythesea @ 13/2 - He’s been laid out for this and should improve for many reasons

This Ben Pauling-trained horse looks like he has been laid out for this race. Despite being bred to stay, he has been kept to 2m, and I believe that was to get him handicapped over fences for a big spring target. So here we are, Meetmebythesea runs and here we are today at the Cheltenham Festival on handicap debut! He steps up in trip today and he also runs on better ground for the first time this season and in my opinion, these are his ideal conditions!

Crucially he also has big handicap field experience from his hurdling days where he was just touched off in the EBF Final at Sandown, which is always a very competitive affair! Interesting that race is ran over an intermediate trip, which bodes well for today’s step up in trip for the first time over fences. I have also advised Meetmebythesea in the Jack Richards Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase as a single bet today, so be sure to check that one out for a more in-depth breakdown.

Ballyburn @ 13/2 - If you draw a line through his last run, he has excellent form here!

When I looked at the Stayers' Hurdle a few weeks back, I couldn't believe that Ballyburn was available at 12/1 and I advised him as a bet there and then, on the basis that he was both underestimated and overpriced. After just one below par run, he had been completely written off and forgotten about. I’m glad I got him onside when I did, as he has since been slashed into 13/2, which may still underestimate him, considering that he was favourite for this race earlier in the season.

Ballyburn ticks a lot of boxes for me as he is already a Cheltenham Festival winner over Hurdles, and that was at Grade 1 level. His form with Teahupoo from this season’s Hatton’s Grace is the best form in this field. Given another stride, Ballyburn would have won that day. But if he had won, and didn't have a bad run at Christmas, he would be a very short price here. I’m always prepared to forgive one bad run, and I've since heard there was a good reason for it, so I recommend that we all put the incident behind us.

Bold Endeavour @ 7/1 - After a spell away from Seven Barrows, he looks extremely well handicapped!

Before the 2026 Cheltenham Festival got underway, I put together a Lucky 15 for all four days. My first selection, Quebecois in the Ultima, was narrowly beaten at 9/1 after trading 1.75 in-running. However, whilst it was tough to see him beaten, it kicked the Lucky 15 off with a place! The second leg was Jingko Blue in the BetMGM Cup, who was advised at 16/1 and hammered into 9/2 favourite going on to win in great style. My third Lucky 15 pick was Bold Endeavour, and I managed to get 20/1 antepost. He has been heavily supported since, but even at 7/1, I’m still happy to include him.

Nicky Henderson has a fantastic record for Handicap Hurdle races at the Cheltenham Festival, and that was only enhanced by Jingko Blue winning yesterday! In last year’s Pertemps, Nicky Henderson had the 1-2 with Doddiethegreat and Jeriko Du Reponet. He has also had other horses running into the frame in previous years such as Mill Green twice, Walking On Air and even Bold Endeavour himself back in 2024. Two years ago, Bold Endeavour came here off a mark of 143 and with a weight to carry of 11st 3lb and managed to run into the places. Well after an absence and some time away from the stable, he now returns 11lb lower and subsequently he only has 10st 6lb on his back! I find it no coincidence that he returned to Seven Barrow and immediately rediscovered his form when he needed to finish in the first four of a qualifier in order to be able to run in this race. This looks like it has been a long term plan and the market support only reinforces that.

Jeriko Du Reponet @ 9/2 - JP McManus likes to target this race with classy horses and here's another one!

My final selection for today’s Lucky 15 runs in the final race of the day, the Kim Muir Handicap Chase. I’m convinced they have been campaigning this horse all season with this race in mind and I’m quite amazed the handicapper has dropped him by 4lb for it, which allows him to scrape in this race as top weight off a mark of 145. As touched upon in the previous section, this horse was second in the Pertemps Network Final last season, so he should enjoy this extended trip of 3m2f.

At the Cheltenham Festival last year and at the Punchestown Festival on his very next start, Jeriko Du Reponet wore cheekpieces and produced career best performances. Therefore, it’s no coincidence that cheekpieces go back on here despite being absent all season to date. As well as the cheekpieces going on, Derek O’Connor rides, as the stand out best amateur jockey, that is a huge advantage in this race. I’m convinced that Jeriko Du Reponet could be a graded horse in a Handicap here, and if that’s the case, he could and should give them all weight and a beating today!

Can these four horses all place or hopefully even better?

As already stated earlier in the article, with an each way Lucky 15 like this one, you want all of the selections to be running into the places at least. If you can get four places, you’ll be returning a good profit and then any wins that can be achieved are just a bonus.

I’m of the strong belief that these four horses that I have picked out are certainly capable of finishing in the places. In fact, it would be no surprise to me if they were all to win, in which case, it will be a very good day for all of us! One thing is guaranteed though, which is that this Lucky 15 will certainly provide us all with plenty of fun throughout the day. We’ll have four horses to cheer on, but I am confident of a nice financial return too!
