Those who read my articles on a regular basis will know that I put up a Lucky 15 article with selections across the ITV Racing coverage every Saturday. For the 2026 Cheltenham Festival, I produced one at the start of the week with a selection from each day and then I have also produced one for each day individually! We have had great success with these so far this week and hopefully this Lucky 15 for Day 4 can be a successful one too!
If you’re just discovering my content here for the first time, allow me to introduce myself! I’m RacingGav and I’m the resident horse racing expert at Betting.co.uk and I have been here since before the last Cheltenham Festival in 2025. Within my role here, I produce multiple articles each and every week, and these are predominately providing free horse racing tips. The tipping content varies as it could be betting tips for that day's racing, antepost selections, or as you are seeing today, it can even be a Lucky 15 to add some spice! There are also many other types of articles I do here such as big race trends, educational guides and results updates, so there should be something for everybody!
The opening race today is the Triumph Hurdle and I picked one for that race a few weeks back. If you missed the article at the time, be sure to go and check it out! In the build up to the 2026 Cheltenham Festival, I also chose selections for the feature races, which included today’s feature race, the Cheltenham Gold Cup, so be sure to take a look at that as well.
As I write this, the combined odds for today’s four horses vary from as low as 1,578/1 right up to 2,886/1. The stand out at the top end is available at PricedUp and with the best horse racing odds, they are the obvious bookmaker pick for me! Furthermore, if you deposit and bet £40, you’ll get £20 of free bets. Last chance to grab free bets for this year's Cheltenham Festival.
We all love to pick out winners, especially at the Cheltenham Festival, which is the Olympics of Jumps racing. Combining four horses that place in a Lucky 15 can bring a nice return! Of course, there is also a chance that all four go on to win and in that case, you’re looking at something a lot more serious! I think all four of these horses have a great chance of hitting the frame in their races, and none would look out of place in the winners’ enclosure!
My first selection is an obvious one, and for good reason! Paul Townend doesn’t often bother with Handicaps at the Cheltenham Festival. Being the retained jockey for Willie Mullins, he has plenty of elite horses in the graded races to keep him busy. I’m also sure that part of it is to remove the risk of him getting injured in these big field Handicaps, where there is always a lot of hustle and bustle. So when he does ride in one, you know it’s worth looking at.
Karbau is Paul Townend’s only Handicap ride at the 2026 Cheltenham Festival and that speaks volumes. It also comes in a race that Willie Mullins has dominated, along with Dan Skelton. Willie is the leading trainer in the race having won it seven times: Thousand Stars (2010), Final Approach (2011), Wicklow Brave (2015), Arctic Fire (2017), Saint Roi (2020), State Man (2022), Absurde (2024). Not surprisingly, Paul Townend is the joint leading jockey having ridden four of those.
Karbau will carry 11st 8lb here, which reflects his high mark of 150. However, there is every chance that he is a Grade 1 horse in a Handicap here. The initial talk from Willie Mullins after his win at Punchestown in January was about his entering for the Supreme and the Turners, but he has ended up here instead. The overnight rainfall would only help him and hinder his stablemate Murcia. With Paul Townend opting to ride him, he could be a future Champion Hurdle horse for the stable and I’d be shocked if wasn’t at least in the first five here and he could be a very tough nut to crack for his rivals.
The second leg of our Lucky 15 comes in the Mares’ Chase where I have landed on Spindleberry, and I’ve also tipped her as an individual bet. To summarise her chances, I think she is excellent value at 6/1. Dinoblue is the one to beat, but Spindleberry appeals much more at that price, especially for this each way Lucky 15.
While Dinoblue sets the standard, she isn’t getting any younger, and when she was beaten in this race two years ago, it was in testing conditions, so the overnight rain may not suit her. Against an aging favourite, I think it’s worth chancing the younger and progressive Spindleberry, rather than a mare who potentially has her best days behind her. I also have a lot of respect for Panic Attack, Diva Luna and Only By Night, but they all have questions to answer here.
Next up we have the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle and thanks to the race sponsor, it’s commonly known as the potato race; and great potatoes they are too! (other brands are available…). The selection here is Thedeviluno who runs for the Paul Nolan stable. He showed solid form in bumpers, running three seconds on his final three starts. However, he has reached new heights since switching to hurdles with further progression coming from each run as he has been stretched out in trip. He managed to win a Maiden Hurdle over 2m, which reads impressively now considering he beat subsequent Grade 1 winner - Skylight Hustle there. That said, Skylight Hustle did benefit from El Cairos falling when winning his Grade 1. The Passing Wife was also back in third and he bolted in at Punchestown in January and joins us in the line up here for this Grade 1.
On his next start, he chased home Doctor Steinberg who is a subsequent Grade 1 winner and who lines up here as favourite. Whilst he will have a tough time turning that form around, it’s not out of the question. The ground was horrible at Navan, Doctor Steinburg benefitted from making all, and he will need to settle to get this longer trip which is far from guaranteed.
Whereas Thedeviluno showed even more ability when stepped up to Doncaster in January. He demolished what looked like a good field and the horse who placed second, Country Code, is well regarded by the trainer. With a question mark hanging over the favourite, I think Thedeviluno is the best bet here, especially at an each way price. His stable are overdue a win here too, having gone close with Latest Exhibition and Sandor Clegane in recent years.
The final leg of our Lucky 15 bet comes in the big one, the Cheltenham Gold Cup! As mentioned earlier in the article, I have already covered this race in a standalone article, and Inothewayurthinkin is my main bet. I’ll cover the key points here though, and the first is glaringly obvious, Inothewayurthinkin won the race last year! So he has already proven his ability to win this prestigious race, and he beat two-time winner of the race, Galopin Des Champs, when doing so. His RPR of 180 that day reflects the performance, and a repeat of that would see him a very tough nut to crack.
The main negative is that he’s been in woeful form all season, and fell last time out in the Irish Gold Cup, which is far from the ideal preparation. However, the Gavin Cromwell yard had a horrid winter where the vast majority of the stable were out of form, suggesting they had an issue of some kind. His horses have turned a corner now, he’s already on the board at this year’s Cheltenham Festival and the vibes coming out of the stable about the well being of Inothewayurthinkin have only been improving the closer we have got to the race! I also find it interesting that they have applied first time cheekpieces here, and if he jumps the first couple of fences well, I think he will massively outrun his 9/1 odds.
This is my last article for the 2026 Cheltenham Festival, and while it has been an awful lot of work, it’s been a fantastic week, with the highlight so far being Meetmebythesea. We have also enjoyed great success with these Lucky 15 articles. The initial Lucky 15 across the four days saw Quebecois placed at 9/1 on the opening day, and Jingko Blue win at 16/1 on Day 2. For the daily Lucky 15s we saw returns on both Day 2 and Day 3, and hopefully we will continue that good form into Day 4!
All four of these horses have a fantastic chance of placing, or even winning their respective races, so I’m very hopeful of a big show for this final Lucky 15 of the festival. I’d be happy with four places, as that would see us get almost four times our outlay, but of course, I’m dreaming of the big win as I’m sure all of you are. For a stake of 50p each way (£15.00), four winners would see us return nearly £2,500.00, which would be a fantastic way to sign off the 2026 Cheltenham Festival!
