It’s the fourth and final day of the 2026 Cheltenham Festival, so this is my last individual betting tip for this year’s meeting. This horse runs in the final race, at a big price, and I’m hoping we can finish with a bang. After landing a superb winner yesterday, in the form of Meetmebythesea, and selecting a number of placed horses, anything else is a bonus now!
If you haven’t visited Betting.co.uk before, then welcome! I’m Gav, better known as RacingGav here and on X. I have been posting free racing tips here since March 2025, and I’m more than happy for you to review my results for 2025, should you wish to do so.
As well as my work here, you might also be interested to know that I run my own Discord server, which was launched in January 2024. You’ll find the full details for that at the end of today’s article.
I posted antepost tips for the Triumph Hurdle and the Cheltenham Gold Cup a few weeks ago, so you may want to check those out before moving on to today’s betting tip. I will also have one final Lucky 15 for today’s action at Cheltenham, so keep your eyes peeled for that. We have enjoyed plenty of success with the Cheltenham Lucky 15s so far, and hopefully that will continue today.
As I write this, the odds available for Farfromnowhere vary from 18/1 to 25/1. However, as well as offering the best horse racing odds, William Hill is showing 1/4 odds for the places, which sees them come out on top for value. The value doesn’t stop there either. If you sign up and bet £10, you’ll get £30 of free bets. Superb value all round from William Hill!
Away from the big names like Willie Mullins, Gordon Elliott, Dan Skelton, and Nicky Henderson, Paul Nolan’s horses have run some cracking races in defeat this week. Iceberg Theory was fifth in the National Hunt Chase, Release The Beast was fourth in the Grand Annual, and Feet Of A Dancer was third in the Mare's Hurdle. He’s edging closer to winning, and I think Farfromnowhere lines up in the Martin Pipe with a great chance!
With just five runs over Hurdles and only eight runs under Rules, Farfromnowhere is somewhat unexposed and we don’t really know where the ceiling of her ability lies. That makes her dangerous in Handicaps, as there's every chance we haven’t seen the best of her yet. If that proves to be the case, any potential improvement could propel her to victory here.
In terms of what we have seen so far, I have been impressed. She won her PTP in Ireland by 45 lengths, and she started life over Hurdles with form figures of 112. The horse that beat her on her third start was Sunchart, who finished third in the Grade 3 Grimes Hurdle next time out, and is now rated 142. Farfromnowhere gave the winner 7lb that day, so there was no shame in that defeat. She was a tad disappointing on her next start, but I think 2m 0.5f at Galway on Good going was too sharp for her.
After a short break, she returned at Listowel over 2m 4f on Yielding/Soft ground, and she won well, beating two nice mares in Dream On Baby and Jalila Moriviere. The former has won twice since, and is now rated 141. The latter also won next time out having switched to fences. Farfromnowhere was pulled up in a 2m 7f Hurdles race at Limerick, but next time out she split Kala Conti (146) and Jade De Grugy (150) in eye-catching style.
As the race name suggests, the Martin Pipe is a Conditional jockeys’ Handicap and is commonly referred to as the “boys race”. But as Anna McGuinness is showing today, it’s open to the girls as well! When it comes to Conditionals, the level of ability can vary significantly, so booking the right jockey can mean the difference between winning or losing on the day.
Willie Mullins and JP McManus have snapped up the talented Michael Kenneally, and paired with Kel Histoire, it’s no surprise to see them head the market here. Other notable jockeys in the race are Tristan Durrell, Eoin Staples and Carl Millar, to name just a few. But up there with the best Conditionals is Conor Stone-Walsh, who will ride Farfromnowhere for Paul Nolan today. He enjoyed Cheltenham Festival success earlier this week when he rode Final Orders for Gavin Cromwell in the Cross Country, and he also gave Break My Soul a cracking ride when finishing third in the Grand Annual.
I use various methods to find my winners, and previous records/trends certainly play a part, especially at these big festivals where history often repeats itself. If you see a pattern, it can give you a good idea of what to look out for. I think there is quite an obvious pattern in the Martin Pipe, and Farfromnowhere fits it nicely.
In the last ten renewals of the Martin Pipe, no horse has carried less than 11st 3lb and, seven of the last 10 winners have carried 11st 7lb or more. From that we can see this race tends to favour classier horses, many of which have gone on to become graded performers. In the last five years alone, we have seen Galopin Des Champs, Banbridge, Iroko and Wodhooh win this race.
It is quite a compressed Handicap this year, with no horse carrying less than 11st today, so it looks highly competitive, as you would expect for a Cheltenham Festival Handicap. However, our mare has a mark of 139, with just three higher rated horses above, and will carry 11st 9lb. So she fits the trends nicely, but I'm mindful of the top three: Its Bilbo, Nurse Susan, and Air Of Entitlement, with the latter already being a Cheltenham Festival winner.
Paul Nolan is no stranger to a Cheltenham Festival winner. At last year’s meeting he had Daily Present land the Kim Muir Handicap Chase. He has also won the Pertemps Network Final with Mrs Milner back in 2021. If you go back even further, he won the 2m 4f Novices’ Chase back in 2011 with a horse called Noble Prince, ridden to victory by A P McCoy! He might not be firing in winners like Willie Mullins but he can certainly produce a victory when he gets the right ammunition.
I think he could have the right ammunition here in the form of Farfromnowhere. She has plenty of class, she’s unexposed and she meets the trend of being towards the top of the weights in this handicap. Paul Nolan has managed an excellent jockey booking in Conor Stone-Walsh and the overnight rain would have only enhanced her chances in my eyes. Interestingly she also gets a first time tongue tie here.
As is always the case with the Martin Pipe, there is a chance you bump into a real superstar that has managed to sneak into a handicap in this race. However, it doesn’t look as strong a renewal as some of the previous years. Maybe time will prove that wrong and the form could work out extremely well but from what I have seen to date, I think Farfromnowhere has every chance of going very close here and is certainly underestimated at her current price of 25/1. At that price, she is well worth an each way bet and I think she’ll give us an excellent run for our money.
