Although my selection yesterday, Hurricane Highway, was beaten into fifth place, there were still some positives to take from his race. Firstly, we secured significant value at 9/1, as he went off at 9/2. While that doesn’t exactly help us, in reality, it’s a part of the long term route to success. The second positive is that he was a win only bet, and as he finished out of the places, it saved us 0.75pt. Today, we’re looking to bounce back, and I think I’ve found the right horse to do that for us.
If you’re not already familiar with my content, where have you been? Joking aside, I’m RacingGav and I’m the resident horse racing expert here at Betting.co.uk. My main task here is to provide you with free horse racing tips, and I’m sure that’s why you’re reading this article right now.
It’s not just tips I publish though, I also produce big race trends, educational guides and other horse racing content. If you want to take a look at some of the guides that I have already posted, I’d recommend taking a look at Betting Fundamentals first, before moving on to the more complex topic of Understanding the UK Handicap System. But those are not we’re here for right now, so I’ll move swiftly on to today’s tip…
At the time of writing, Elettaria is widely available at 4/1 across the market. So, when there isn’t a stand out bookmaker in terms of the best horse racing odds, I look at the best sign up offers instead. And in my opinion, Betfred is a clear stand out on that front! If you bet £10, you’ll get £50 of free bets. And yes, you read that correctly, £50 of free bets for eligible new customers.
As her rating suggests, Elettaria is no superstar. However, you won’t find many superstars in a 0-50 Classified Stakes race anyway. That said, I think she is a class above this level, and unless there is another similar type lurking in this field, she should be too strong for them.
Elettaria is a four-time winner, with three of her victories coming on the AW. In addition, three of her AW wins have been here at Newcastle, over the same 7f distance as today’s race. The first was in Handicap company back in 2023. Notably, Elettaria has also recorded four further places in Handicaps over C&D.
But what has really caught my attention is that when she has dropped to 0-50 Classified Stakes races over C&D, her record reads two wins from two runs. Back in this company again, I think Elettaria can maintain her perfect record by making it three wins from three runs.
Elettaria last raced over C&D on 29 December 2025. That was a 0-60 Handicap, a much stronger level of race than she’ll compete in today. As it turned out, the way the race was run didn’t suit her at all, as she prefers a strong gallop, but the pace was very uneven. Despite that, she ran a stormer, and made up a lot of ground. She was only beaten by a length at the line, finishing in third. Given how the race was run, her performance deserves plenty of credit.
I do have some concerns about a similar scenario playing out in today’s race. On paper, I’m struggling to see much in the way of pace angles, as Marcello Si looks the only obvious front runner. Our Nicola likes to race prominently too though, so hopefully she can keep Marcello Si honest. Nevertheless, there are 12 runners in this field, and there could also be a surprise package among them.
However, I will add that Elettaria almost overcame a slow pace last time out in a stronger race, so she could simply be too strong for the others here, and with lesser opposition to chase down.
As I covered in my Horses For Courses guide, some tracks have a distinct bias. Newcastle tends to have a significant one, where it pays to be near the stand side (near side) rail. This part of the track is often a ‘golden highway’ where the horses seem to perform better than elsewhere.
With the way the stalls are positioned, it is the high draw numbers that are on the stand side, and the lower numbers on the far side. When looking at the draw for races run on the straight track at Newcastle (5f, 6f, 7f and 1m), you need to look at horses that are drawn high. Elettaria has landed stall eight of 12 today, and I’m very happy with that. That should place her near enough to the rail to capitalise on the bias, but far enough away to give her alternatives if she needs them.
In my opinion, Elettaria’s record in this company over C&D speaks volumes and I think she will be hard to beat once again. The fact she was an unlucky third, beaten just a length in a stronger race, only reaffirms my views. In addition to that strong C&D form, she has also landed a lovely draw in stall eight which further fuels her chance.
On the negative side, horses at this level are not always the most consistent and they can let you down. Therefore, it is always wise to tread quite carefully. In addition to that, the potential for a weak pace is a concern. but we won’t know how it’ll play out until it happens.
At her current 4/1 price, I feel Elettaria is a bet. But given the negatives and particularly the weak pace expected, I’m only prepared to play half stakes. Between the negatives and the price, I’m also going for a win only bet this time. If there is a strong pace to aim at and she gets a clear run, I think she’ll win this.
