Time and time again, bet365 come out on top. This time, whilst the rest of the market offering prices varying from 10/1 to 12/1, bet365 are offering the best horse racing odds at 14/1, with four places too. In addition, new customers who sign up and bet £10, will get £30 in free bets. What a great deal.
Carrying a big weight in competitive handicaps is never easy, but I think Annaf can get away with it here. In the rest of this article, I’ll explain why, so keep reading.
Sometimes people think a horse could be a Group horse in a Handicap but Annaf literally is one. 12 months ago, Annaf ran at this meeting, but in the Group 3 Chipchase Stakes, and he was only denied by a neck. The winner that day, Diligent Harry, is rated 110 and defends his Chipchase crown. However, Annaf has an easier task in store and runs in Handicap company.
While he came up a tad short in the Chipchase, he did go on to win a Group 3 at Ascot in October. That boosted his already impressive CV, which contains wins at Listed, Group 3, and Group 2 (KSA) level. As such, there’s every chance he is too classy for this field.
This time last year, Annaf was rated 105, making it the logical option to run him in the Chipchase Stakes, and it very nearly paid off. However, he’s now dropped to a mark of 99, which is 6lb lower, and he looks dangerously handicapped to me.
He produced a RPR of 114 in the Chipchase last year, and went on to record RPRs of 112 at both York and Ascot. If he is able to reproduce a performance anywhere near that level, he will have enough in hand to land this valuable Handicap.
His second in the Chipchase Stakes was no fluke performance either. His overall record over C&D reads 142322, so he clearly likes the track and runs well here. He won over 5f back in 2022, and his last 6f races here have produced RPRs of 105, 109, 108 and 114.
That’s some serious form to bring into this Handicap race, especially off a reduced mark of 99. He is yet to finish out of the first four in six C&D starts, and if he can maintain that record, we’re set for place money at least. With a fantastic draw in Stall 13, he will take some beating.
I firmly believe Annaf can go one better than last year. Although it’s old form he needs to recapture, he is a Group horse in a Handicap. He has also dropped from an official rating of 114 to just 99, which makes him very dangerously handicapped, and he has a lovely draw too. Combining that with his strong record over C&D, he must have an outstanding chance.
In terms of negatives, he is seven now with 46 runs under his belt, and he is taking on less exposed horses. It’s also possible he will bump into progressive types on their way up through the handicap, but that is only speculation and Annaf has already proved that he has ability.
All facts considered, I think he is underestimated and overpriced at 14/1, especially with four places on offer. I think he has an excellent chance of hitting the frame at least, if not winning. I feel there is tons of value on offer and Annaf is well worthy of a strong 1pt each way bet.
Below there are five betting offers for horse racing from our bookmaker partners, providing fantastic value. I can safely say that it is well worth your time exploring these deals, you won’t regret it!
