Royal Ascot 2026 is here! We have five days of elite action and there will be free horse racing tips from me all week!
I’m RacingGav and I’m the resident horse racing expert here at Betting.co.uk. I produce a mixture of betting tips: daily, antepost and Lucky 15s, as well as other types of content. My other content includes big race trends, educational guides and monthly horses and trainers to follow.
If you’re more of a National Hunt Racing fan, but are tuning in as it’s Royal Ascot this, be sure to check out my antepost selections for the Jumps! I have early selections for the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase and the Cheltenham Gold Cup at the 2027 Cheltenham Festival. Plus I also have an early play for the 2027 Grand National at Aintree.
bet365 has the best horse racing odds for Frost At Dawn at 40/1, plus there’s five places available. Furthermore, new customers who deposit and bet £10 get £30 of free bets. A great deal all round.
With her recent form and an undesirable draw at face value, Frost At Dawn is sailing under the radar at 40/1. I think she’ll outrun her odds and in this article, I’ll explain why!
I tipped Frost At Dawn for this race last year when she was 50/1. I felt that price completely underestimated her and I was right. She was sent off 28/1 and was only a neck away from winning at the line.
Frost At Dawn and American Affair both pulled clear, but sadly Frost At Dawn came off second best as they battled their way towards the line. Between that run and her subsequent close third in the Nunthrope, she is definitely a Group 1 horse.
The key for her seems to be fast ground. Her form figures last year on Good to Firm going were 2123. A second and a win at Listed level, before a neck second and a close third in Group 1s. In all four races, she was beaten no more than 1.25 lengths.
She did get her ideal conditions on her seasonal reappearance, but given that was her first run for 209 days, it was no surprise that she needed it. We then saw her run in the Temple Stakes at Haydock, where she was unable to show her best on unsuitable Good to Soft ground. She should be cherry ripe now and it looks like she’ll get her favoured going today.
If I were allowed to select a draw for her, I’d have gone for centre to stand side, stalls 17 to 21. Being drawn over on the far side in stall three is not what I was hoping for today. However, while the stands side is often favoured, there are no guarantees.
However, in these sprints, it’s often more relevant where the pace comes from. One horse I’d expect to bounce out and go hard is Night Raider, and as he is drawn nearby in stall six, I’m hopeful he can tow Frost At Dawn through the race..
Frost At Dawn has excuses for both starts this season, and gets her preferred going today. I think Night Raider could be the horse to latch onto, and as he is drawn nearby that’s a huge help too. We know Frost At Dawn has the ability when she’s at her best, and she won’t lack for a ride either. William Buick is in the saddle, and he has already won two from two for William Knight this season.
In terms of negatives, the main one is Frost At Dawn’s draw. I’d prefer her to be drawn higher, but at least she is drawn near a horse who likes to get on with the job and that could prove crucial.
All facts considered, I think 40/1 underestimates Frost At Dawn’s chances, and she’s well worth a 1pt each way play. This division is wide open and was notorious for upsets last season, hopefully that will be the case again this year!
