It was great to hit a 17/2 winner last week in the form of Heer’s Sadie at Yarmouth. That winner was then followed up with Rhythm N Hooves winning at 13/2 over at Newbury on Saturday, as part of my Lucky 15. Hopefully we can carry that winning form over into this new week and with today’s betting tip, I believe we can!

7-year-old Connie’s Rose has recorded 10 victories in her career to date, so she certainly knows how to win. She’s very genuine though and when she hasn’t finished in front, she’s often not far away. This is further supported by her record, as she has produced a further 30 placed efforts. I think she can get back to winning form today and in this article, I’ll be explaining why I think that, so make sure you read on!

Connie’s Rose is a seven time course winner!

Of the ten wins recorded in the career of Connie’s Rose to date, seven of them have come at this track - Chepstow and she’s won them over 5f, 6f and 7f on ground varying from Good to Firm through to Soft, so she is a very versatile mare. This is only further highlighted by the fact she has even won on Heavy ground elsewhere during her career.

With her love for Chepstow, she has to be respected returning to this venue. Hopefully she will take that Chepstow record to eight victories in today’s race!

Connie’s Rose is now 2lb below her last winning mark

The latest win for Connie’s Rose came back in September last year, so less than 12 months ago. Interestingly, that victory came off a mark of 65. As a result of that success, she went up to a handicap mark of 70.

However, since then she has come back down the handicap and she is now rated just 63, which is 2lb below her last winning mark. She has won off higher marks than this on numerous occasions. In fact, her prior win came off a 10lb higher mark of 73!

Connie’s Rose has a significant jockey booking which catches the eye

The jockey booking can be crucial and we shouldn’t lack for a ride with Rossa Ryan booked for today’s race. In the last five years, Rossa Ryan is 8/62 (13%) for Grace Harris. Whilst this may not sound like a great statistic, she has operated at an 8% strike rate overall during the same period. So her horses evidently improved for the booking of Rossa in the saddle.

Even more impressively, it is worth noting that he has recorded nine seconds, six thirds and eight fourths within those 62 runs as well. If you combine these results together with the eight victories, that is 31/62 of the horses finishing in the first four home in their races, which is 50%. Overall, Grace Harris has only had 19% of her horses hitting the first four in their races. So that is an even more dramatic increase from having Rossa Ryan booked to ride.

Can Connie’s Rose get her head back in front?

There are plenty of things speaking in Connie’s Rose’s favour today. She certainly knows how to win at Chepstow with seven course victories recorded. Likewise, she is handicapped to strike, sitting 2lb below her last winning mark and 10lb below her highest winning mark. When you assess the impact Rossa Ryan has on her horses and his personal ability in the saddle, that is a fantastic booking too.

In terms of drawbacks, whilst she often runs her race, she has become hard to win with. In 70 runs on the Turf, she has recorded 10 victories. However, in the last 30 runs, she has only recorded one. Therefore, she has to prove she still has the desire to stretch her neck out to win a race.

However, I believe that fire in her belly remains, she has just been too high in the handicap lately. Between the falling mark, her course record and the booking of Rossa Ryan, I think she’ll outrun her odds of 8/1. As a result, I feel she is well worth an each way bet but given that record of one win in her last 30, I’m only prepared to play half stakes here.
