It’s Wednesday and we have action from as far North as Ayr, as far South as Kempton, and across the Irish Sea at Gowran Park. We’re taking the southern route, as there’s one I like at Kempton today, and he runs in the penultimate 6f Handicap there. This horse is priced at 9/1 which is fantastic value, especially with how the race is likely to play out.
I’m RacingGav and I’ve been the resident horse racing expert at Betting.co.uk for almost 14 months. The bulk of my content is free horse racing tips which includes daily selections, antepost picks, and a Lucky 15 on Saturdays. As well as betting tips, I also publish a wide range of other content which includes educational guides, big race trends and horses or trainers to follow each month.
If the educational guides interest you, I’d recommend starting with each way betting, before tackling the influence of track bias, which plays a huge part in this great sport and is relevant to today’s selection!
At the time of writing, the best horse racing odds for Amazonian Dream can be found with bet365, at a price of 9/1. In addition to that, they are also paying four places rather than the standard three. As if that isn’t enough, if you sign up and bet £10 you’ll get £30 of free bets. Make sure you check this out if you don’t already have an account.
In the next part of this article, I’ll explain why I think Amazonian Dream can land an overdue win today, so keep reading to understand my logic!
Let’s take a look at the current state of affairs. After a 75-day break Amazonian Dream returned at Windsor earlier this month where he ran a very respectable third, beaten by less than five lengths. He made nice headway from 2f out, but due to the lack of a recent run, he found no extra inside the final 110yds. If he was race fit, I’m sure he would have kept going and gone through to win.
I certainly felt it was a very pleasing return anyway and the form looks solid as well. The horse who placed second, Expert Agent, ran again 12 days later and won. The two in eighth and ninth, Strike and Land Of Magic, are the only others to run since, and they finished third and fifth 10 days later. While we only have a limited view, the form looks strong so far.
Kempton is a right-handed track with a clear bias towards horses drawn low. They naturally migrate towards the inside rail and have less distance to travel than the horses drawn out wide. Therefore it’s pleasing to see that Amazonian Dream has landed stall two. The horse drawn in stall one, Moving Force, is typically held up, and with a solid jump out of the stalls, Amazonian Dream can go past him to secure a prominent position on the rail.
Looking at this 12-strong field, I’m not seeing a single horse who is an out and out front runner. There’s a handful who like to race prominently, but the majority tend to sit midfield, and the rest are likely to be held up. If Amazonian Dream jumps away well and takes a forward position on the rail, it’s unlikely he’ll be challenged. Naturally, he’ll need to maintain focus if he is out front, which is probably the reason the visor has been introduced.
I’ve been a fan of jockey Lewis Edmunds for a good while now, and it’s safe to say that Rod Millman feels the same way. From 43 rides for Rod he has produced 10 wins, and a further 13 have finished in second, third or fourth place. That's a winning strike rate of 23% and a top four finish rate in excess of 53%. Amazonian Dream performs well for Lewis, with two wins and six places from 15 races.
Four runs back the partnership finished third, beaten by just two lengths. Three runs back, Lewis was in the saddle again and the pair finished second, beaten by just half a length. I'm overjoyed to see Lewis booked to ride today, and hopefully the pair can progress further and land a win for us today.
Amazonian Dream is coming into this race on a 16 race losing run, which is quite remarkable given his talent. He runs off a mark of 74, which is 15lb lower than his C&D win in 2024. Given his ability, it feels more like a matter of when, rather than if, he will get his head in front again.
He ran a very solid race on reappearance at Windsor, and while he can run well when fresh, he tends to go better with a race under his belt. With the lack of obvious pace angles his low draw in stall two is perfect, and the first time visor will help to keep him focused. Having Lewis Edmunds back in the saddle is a huge plus. If there's a man who can get Amazonian Dream's head back in front, he is certainly the one.
I think Amazonian Dream has an exceptional chance of hitting the first four here, but I genuinely believe he can win this. I feel he's underestimated at 9/1, especially with four places being paid, and I’m happy to play a strong 1pt each way today.
