A bit about my two York Day 1 selections

Count D’orsay - 2.25 York E/W @ 10/1

I think Count D’orsay is one that can strike whilst the iron is hot. He ran a blinder last time out and looked to be flying home late on, only to get denied by a nose. He got away slowly and was held up behind a wall of horses before finding his run, but showed some wicked gears to come that late. He was the best finisher by far.

He has done most of his running over 5 furlongs, but a crack at 6 furlongs looks well worth it, based on his last effort, albeit over a furlong shorter. He comes into the race in good nick and the Easterby yard are absolutely flying at the moment. Could be the time to catch him at odds in two figures!

Garrus - 3.00 York E/W @ 10/1

Charlies Hills has a nice type in Garrus who is definitely starting to get better with age. He does need to improve a touch to get his head in front here, but this could be a messy race. He has the potential to be the percentage strike here under Ryan Moore, who is banging in winners all over the place right now.

He is a really easy mover and has less to prove than a few at the head of the market. I strongly believe that at 10/1 he has to be worth an each-way punt here!
