Mrs Trump is a five time sprint winner, including over this C&D, and although her last success came 13 months ago, there were definite signs of a revival at Redcar last week. She travelled with more purpose than she has for most of this season, sat handy, and kept on well to finish a 2 length fifth behind Night Emperor. It wasn’t a return to her peak, but it was the first time in a while she shaped like a mare edging back towards form. She’s effective at 5f and 6f, acts on good to firm through to soft, and her best work has often come when allowed to stride on around turning tracks. Her old form, including that C&D double last summer, makes her very interesting off this mark, and if she can build on the Redcar run, she has possibilities. She’s now well treated, she’s moving better, and she’s back at a venue where she’s produced some of her strongest efforts.

This isn’t a deep race, and that helps her cause. The main dangers include Soames Forsyte, who is weighted to be competitive if breaking cleanly, and Alessia Fernanda, who went too hard last time but is still only 2lb above her AW win. Spirit Genie also drops in class and could bounce back. But Mrs Trump is the one arriving off a genuine step forward, and if she repeats or improves on that Redcar effort, she can get right back into the mix.

2:40pm 5f Bob Vickery Memorial Restricted Maiden Fillies' Stakes (Bands B, C And D) (GBB/IRE Incentive Race)(Class4)(2yo)

Inglewood is an improving filly who has shaped with promise on both starts and now looks ready to take another step forward. She made a pleasing debut at Thirsk over 5f, finishing a creditable fifth in a race that has worked out well, showing early speed before understandably tiring late. She looked far from the finished article that day, but the raw ability was clear. She confirmed that impression at Catterick last month when rallying strongly to finish second, beaten only two lengths by Warby. That form has substance, the fourth has won since, and her closing sectionals were notably good for a filly still learning her job. She travelled more fluently, responded well when asked, and shaped like one who will keep improving with experience.

She’s effective at 5f, handles a sound surface, and her physique suggests she’ll strengthen as the season goes on. This is a competitive maiden, but she’s firmly in the picture. My Maria and Travellers Girl hold solid claims, while Time Glory would be interesting if bouncing back.But Inglewood’s blend of early speed, improving finishing effort, and scope for more makes her a dangerous contender, and she may well go one better.

3:10pm 7fPeter Bell Memorial Fillies' Nursery Handicap(Class5)(2yo0-75)

Gerry’s Darling took a big step forward at Musselburgh last week and arrives here as a major player on nursery debut. She’d been shaping with promise in her earlier runs, but everything clicked when she was sent forward and allowed to bowl along over 7f. Making all, she travelled sweetly, stretched clear, and put the race to bed in emphatic fashion, beating Hey Up Ronnie by over six lengths. It was the performance of a filly who has suddenly found her stride. She carries a 6lb penalty, but given the authority of that win, and the fact she was still easing away late, she may well be ahead of her mark. She’s effective on a sound surface, clearly enjoys being allowed to stride on, and her profile screams further improvement now switching to handicaps.

This is competitive, with Bymiddaytomorrow also arriving on the back of a good maiden win and Love Tanya showing promise when stepped up to 7f. Both have more to offer. But Gerry’s Darling looked a different filly at Musselburgh, stronger, sharper, and much more professional. If she repeats that all the way style, she could easily follow up under her penalty.

3:40pm 5f Ladies' Day Saturday 5th September - Book Now Handicap(Class5)(3yo+0-75)

J Street has been a model of consistency this summer and turns up again with every chance of playing a major role. She’s already won twice over 5f, at Doncaster on good to firm and at Southwell on the AW, and those victories showed her typical blend of sharp early pace and a determined finishing effort. She’s not always the most straightforward, but she’s thriving at the moment and her recent form suggests she’s still very much on the up. Her latest run at Chester is easy to upgrade. She travelled well but didn’t get the smoothest passage, stuck behind horses when the sprint began to unfold, yet she still finished a close fourth, beaten only three quarters of a length by Maharajas Express. Off the same mark today, that effort reads strongly, she picked up when gaps finally appeared and shaped like one who would have gone even closer with a cleaner run.

Billy Garritty returns and he’s 1 for 1 on her, and that’s a notable plus. He gets her travelling sweetly, keeps her balanced, and seems to understand how to coax her best late burst. She handles most surfaces, is fully effective at 5f, and her current rhythm makes her a serious contender once more. This is competitive, but J Street’s reliable profile, her strong recent form, and a workable mark all point towards another bold bid. She should be right in the thick of it again.
