My weekly Lucky 15 has become part of the furniture here at Betting.co.uk. So when Saturday rolls around each week, it means it is time for another Lucky 15 based on the ITV Racing action! The only difference this time is that I’ve included selections for Saturday and Sunday. All four horses are running at Cheltenham’s November Meeting, with both days shown on ITV!
New to my content? I’m Gavin, more commonly known as RacingGav on X. I’m the resident horse racing expert here at Betting.co.uk and I generally write four or five articles each week, although that will be increasing shortly! On the tipping front, I post a mix of daily betting tips and antepost selections. These are typically single bets, but I’ve added a Lucky 15 each Saturday to add some spice, especially for the more casual or weekend punters!
I also publish educational pieces from time to time. If you are keen to learn more about horse racing, I’d recommend taking a look at some of the articles I’ve already published. These cover topics like the UK Handicap System, National Hunt Racing, and Horses For Courses (the impact different tracks have on horses). All of these guides can help you take a step up from being a casual follower, to getting more serious about the horse racing game.
At the time of writing, Betfred is offering fantastic combined odds of 10,889/1 for my Lucky 15 selections. They are also offering strong place terms with four, three, three and five places being paid respectively. Most impressive of all, they have one of the best sign up offers currently available! If you bet £10, you’ll get £50 in free bets. Superb value on every level at Betfred!
With a Lucky 15, you can play it one of two ways. Option one is to pick horses that are near the top of the market and have an exceptionally strong chance of winning their respective races. Option two is picking horses at bigger prices that have a good chance of making the places. I’m mainly an option two kind of guy, because if all my selections place, it can be very rewarding. Of course, if they can win, things get even better! It’s option two for today with four great picks at each way prices.
Earlier this week, I moved on Vincenzo via the antepost betting market, and managed to secure a price of 6/1. If you follow my betting tips regularly, then you’ll already have that bet in the bag.
Vincenzo’s task has been made a little easier now with two of his main rivals out of the picture. Matata was not declared to run, and Jagwar (the former favourite) has since been withdrawn due to the testing ground. Despite those two being out of the race, Vincenzo is still available at 9/2!
If you’re keen to know why I fancy Vincenzo’s chances, check out my Paddy Power Gold Cup article, which covers everything in detail. But for now, I think his price is great value and he is definitely worthy of being included in our Lucky 15.
Patriotik is a nice horse for the Evan Williams stable. Something I found out about the hard way at Doncaster back in March. I had tipped Fergal O’Brien’s Kamsinas to win that day, but Patriotik came from nowhere to deny him late on. Admittedly he was receiving 19lb from Kamsinas, if you factor in Isabel Williams’ 3lb claim.
That win came off a mark of 121, and Patriotik backed it up later in the month, with a fantastic third place in a £52,000 Handicap at Uttoxeter off a 3lb higher mark of 124. Both of those runs were on Good to Soft going.
Patriotik’s latest runs in May and October came on Good ground, and was disappointing in both. However, off a reduced mark of 123, and returned to ground with juice in it, I think he can bounce back to form. Whilst Isobel Williams has lost her claim, she is far more experienced now, and Patriotik only carries 10st 5lb here any way. If he puts his best foot forward, he’s highly underestimated at 11/1.
In December 2023, Nassalam bolted up in a Welsh Grand National Trial at Chepstow off a mark of 141 on Heavy going. He subsequently ran in the Welsh Grand National itself, off a 4lb higher mark of 145 in similar Heavy conditions. He absolutely demolished the field that day, winning unchallenged by a colossal 34 lengths.
Unsurprisingly, Nassalam was raised to a mark of 161, which was tough, but arguably very fair. He took his chances in the Cheltenham Gold Cup, and the Aintree Grand National, but was unable to land a blow in either. After that he ran in three further Handicaps, off marks of 158, 156 and 150, respectively, but all of them were on unsuitably quick ground and he was pulled up in all three.
Although that form appears to paint a negative picture, you must consider three things. Nassalam has now dropped 15lb to a mark of 147, making him dangerous here. He returns to his favoured softer ground, and 5lb claimer Freddie Mitchell has been booked for the ride.
Effectively, that brings Nassalm’s mark down to 142, which is 3lb lower than his Welsh Grand National winning mark. It also means he carries just 10st 5lb in this race. Of course, there is a risk that the Welsh Grand National was his final hurrah, but I think there’s every chance he will bounce back for this £75,000 Handicap.
Two years ago, Iberico Lord beat a strong field in this same race to scoop the valuable pot for trainer Nicky Henderson, and owner JP McManus. His mark of 126 was clearly too low that day, and he shaped like he could easily land another Handicap if the rise from his win wasn’t too excessive.
The handicapper subsequently gave Iberico Lord an 8lb rise, and after a below-par run on fast ground at Ascot, he went straight to the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury on Heavy ground. Once again he brushed a very strong field aside, to land that extremely valuable Handicap Hurdle. To give some context, the 2-3-4 that day were L’Eau du Sud, Go Dante and Doddiethegreat, who have all done plenty since!
The plan is for Iberico Lord to go Chasing this season, and he looks every inch the right sort. However, they have decided to come here first off a mark of 139 and that could be telling. Just 5lb higher than his Betfair Hurdle win, Iberico Lord could add a second renewal of this race to his CV before tackling the bigger obstacles, and at 10/1, I’m certainly willing to find out.
As mentioned, with an each way Lucky 15, we want all four selections to be hitting the frame. That alone would produce a very healthy return for us. It goes without saying that I would love for all four of them to win! However, each of them has questions to answer:
In my opinion, I think these four horses are all more than capable of answering those questions positively. And I certainly wouldn’t be surprised to see at least a couple of them do it in great style too. This Lucky 15 will certainly provide us all with plenty of entertainment across the weekend, but hopefully we’ll see a nice return from it too.
Below you will see some of the fantastic free bet offers currently available from our recommended bookmakers. Make sure to check them out, there’s a lot of value to be had from these deals, and plenty of free bets to use for this weekend’s Lucky 15 and my antepost betting tips!
