It’s been a profitable week for my free horse racing tips here at Betting.co.uk, after Upepo and Isaac Des Obeaux both won for us. Naturally, I’m looking to continue in winning form today. I've already put up a tip for the 13.15 at Ascot today, in addition to this Lucky 15 covering four other races for today’s ITV Racing action.
For those not familiar with me or my content, I’m RacingGav and I’m the resident horse racing expert at Betting.co.uk. I publish several articles per week here, which mainly focus on betting tips, both daily and antepost. I also produce other types of content like big race trends, and educational guides, so there’s pretty much something for everyone to enjoy.
If antepost betting interests you, be sure to check out my selections for the King George VI Chase and the Welsh Grand National, which both take place over the festive period. I also have early selections posted for the 2026 Cheltenham Festival and the 2026 Grand National too, so be sure to check those out when you have a few minutes to spare.
At the time of writing, William Hill is offering the best horse racing odds for our Lucky 15. They are paying 7,604/1 for the bet, with individual odds of 11/2, 11/1, 11/2, and 14/1. In addition to that, they are also paying ¼ odds on all four races which is another plus point, especially with the way places can bring a decent return for Lucky 15 bets. Finally, they have a fantastic new customer offer. If you bet £10, you’ll get £40 of free bets. If all of that doesn’t fill you with festive cheer, then nothing will.
As a general rule, I tend to look for value when I choose my bets, which means I don’t just select short-priced favourites and play the win-only game. I’d much rather find horses that I believe can outperform their odds. Using this method, all the horses need to do is to run into a place to produce a healthy return across the whole Lucky 15, and if they all win, we’re laughing all the way to the bank!
General Medrano is a very talented horse on a going day. We saw this last when he bolted in by nine lengths at Newbury, which saw his mark rise 10lb from 131 to 141. Despite the rise, he nearly went in again two runs later at Doncaster, beaten less than two lengths by Petit Tonnerre.
This season, he returned here at Ascot over 2m 1f, off a mark of 140. He ran a very respectable race to finish fourth, beaten by four lengths, but staying on at the finish. He failed to fire next time out, but I don’t think the race ran to suit him, so I’ll forgive him that one. He now has a few interesting changes. Firstly, he steps up in trip to 2m 3f, which I think is a change for the better. Secondly, he gets Sean Bowen in the saddle, which with all due respect to Ben Jones, is a great upgrade. Finally, he is now 4lb lower than on his seasonal debut, coming here off a mark of 136, which gives him every chance.
Crambo is something of a Long Walk specialist, having won for the last two years. In 2023, he brought down the mighty Paisley Park to win this race for the first time. He then went to Cheltenham and Aintree, but failed to fire at either. He was put away for the summer and came back to win this race in 2024. Once again, his season went astray afterwards, twice at Cheltenham, and then at Punchestown.
Although Crambo won fresh here last year, connections have changed it up this time, by giving him a preparation run over an inadequate 2m 3.5f. That run looks poor on paper, but it should have done its job of blowing the cobwebs away and getting him to peak condition for today’s race. We know he loves this track and trip, and he has clearly been trained for the race again. I appreciate on paper it looks a tougher renewal than last year, but you never really know until it’s run. However, I see no reason why Crambo will not put up a decent fight to retain his crown, and he looks plenty overpriced at 11/1.
Blow Your Wad looked a fantastic Chasing prospect when he won the Pendil Novices’ Chase at Kempton in February 2024. Sadly he suffered an injury on his next start at Aintree, and we didn’t see him for 317 days after that. While they weren’t bad runs, he wasn’t at his peak on his first two starts back at Kempton and Cheltenham. After those runs, connections decided he needed wind surgery, then sent him on his summer break.
I was hoping to see the old Blow Your Wad when he returned over C&D last month, and I certainly did. He ran an absolute cracker to finish third, beaten three lengths by Henry’s Friend and The Changing Man. With a first run under his belt, and this being his second run after wind surgery (usually the time to catch them), I think he can put on an improved performance here. Considering the handicapper has left his mark unaltered, I think he has every chance of at least running into the places at the very least.
In my opinion, Wreckless Eric should have won the Imperial Cup in March 2025. He was repeatedly denied a run at the business end, and he made a mistake at the last hurdle, yet he was still only denied by half a length, and he was staying on powerfully too. It’s also worth noting that the horse who beat him, Go Dante, has won over that C&D since to frank the form. He was rated 127 that day, and he’s now up to 134.
Wreckless Eric was also rated 127 that day, but he comes here rated just 2lb higher on 129, and I believe that mark underestimates his ability. I am taking a chance by backing him on his first run since April, but he is a horse that runs well fresh. I think he can kick on now in his second season with Jonjo & AJ O’Neill, and hopefully that starts with a big performance here, before he tackles more of these valuable 2m Handicap Hurdles. The big fields and strong pace throughout suit him perfectly, and I believe he could be a County Hurdle horse come Cheltenham in March.
I think all of these ITV Racing selections have a great chance in their respective races. You could argue they all have at least one question mark too. However, that also means we get some superb prices!
I’m quietly confident that these horses can defy the question marks hanging over them, and put in huge performances. If they do, we’ll be in for one hell of a Saturday afternoon!
