It’s Saturday, and that means it’s time for another Lucky 15. Today I’m covering the ITV Racing action at Doncaster, Kelso and Newbury! We have some big field races this weekend, so there’s plenty of value out there, and I think I’ve found four horses with plenty of potential, and odds they are likely to outrun! If all four of them can get into the places, we would have a healthy return, but they are all capable of causing an upset too!
If you’re just discovering my content for the first time, I’m RacingGav and I’m the resident horse racing tipster for Betting.co.uk. I publish several articles each week here, which are mostly free horse racing tips, but I also cover other aspects of racing like big race trends and educational guides.
Although the majority of my tips are for races on the same day, I tip in the antepost betting markets too. So if you like antepost betting, be sure to check out some of my existing selections for the year ahead. For the upcoming 2026 Cheltenham Festival, I already have selections live for the Pertemps Network Final, the Triumph Hurdle, and the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
At the time of writing, bet365 has the best horse racing odds for our Lucky 15. Their combined odds across the four runners of 8,452/1 are a long way clear of the next best bookmaker who are only 6,551/1! bet365 are also paying four, five, three and four places respectively. As if that’s not good enough already, new customers who sign up and bet £10, get £30 of free bets. Awesome value all round!
Unlike recent weeks, I have gone down the each way route today rather than backing horses to win only. As a rule, I’m usually found deeper down the market anyway but with the structure of a Lucky 15, you can even make a very healthy profit from just finding horses that place at nice prices. Therefore for me, unless I have four very strong fancies or the races prohibit me from doing so, the each way option is usually the way I lean.
Each Saturday, I produce two articles. The first is a Lucky 15, and the second is my main betting tip for the day. Destroytheevidence is my NAP bet for today so I have already covered the case for him in detail. Rather than me going over the same ground again here, you can check that article out instead!
Four runs back, Spectacularsunrise won a Novice Hurdle at Bangor by an impressive 12 length margin. His next start (three runs back) was then his first in Handicap company and he bolted in by 6.5 lengths over today’s C&D off a mark of 122. They switched Spectacularsunrise back to Novice company at Chepstow on his next start where he chased home the favourite,Mossy Fen Road, giving him 4lb. Whilst he disappointed on his next start, Mossy Fen Road is highly thought of and he is expected to line up in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle (Grade 1) at the Cheltenham Festival in less than two weeks time.
I don’t think Spectacularsunrise then enjoyed Windsor on his latest start and the 3lb drop in the handicap looks generous. With that 3lb off and a further 5lb off due to Toby McCain-Mitchell’s claim, he could be very dangerous here today. I also think that Toby is fantastic value for his 5lb claim. When riding for this stable, he has recorded 10 wins from 45 rides (22%) with a further 18 (28/45 - 62%) finishing in the first four. To a £1 level stake, he is +£13.08 when riding for Nigel & Willy, which is very impressive for a conditional jockey.
Mister Coffey is a real fan favourite, which is quite remarkable given his record over fences is 0/18. What makes that record really unbelievable is that he has managed to finish second over fences nine times but never finished with his head in front. On three of these occasions he has finished a length or less away from victory!
Before the race, I gave him no chance over 2m 4f around at Cheltenham on his penultimate start. However, off a mark of 142, he ran a huge race to finish second behind Eldorado Allen, who was fantastic on the day. Mister Coffey disappointed the last day around the Cross Country course back at Cheltenham. However, switched back to traditional fences, over a trip of 3m 2f and with cheekpieces reapplied, I think he could run a huge race!
Interestingly, Mister Coffey won two of his six starts over hurdles and one of those came at this track - Hopefully that is a good omen! It’d certainly fancy his chances of being thereabouts here but hopefully he can finally break his maiden tag over fences, it would be fantastic to see!
Issam has been impressive over fences since switching to them in January last year. He’s had six starts over the larger obstacles to date and they have resulted in three wins and two places, which is an impressive record.
If you limit his chase starts to intermediate trips, his record reads 1131, which is mightily impressive. Last time out he won in dominant fashion around Kempton by 6.5 lengths and it could have been further if he and Gavin Sheehan wished.
That latest win came at Kempton which is a Flat track like Newbury and therefore, he should enjoy it at this track today. He is up 7lb from 136 to 143 but he won readily last time and the handicapper is somewhat guessing at how much he had in hand. I would not be surprised if an additional 7lb underestimates him!
With each of these four selections, I feel we have a great chance of hitting the places and as touched upon, with the structure of this bet, that is enough to secure a very healthy profit from the bet. It goes without saying that the ultimate goal is to pick four winners but we also have to be realistic as well, those days will be very few and far between, if ever.
We have a real mixture of types here. Destroytheevidence and Mister Coffey more tried and tested, with a strong record of finishing in the places but often failing to win. We then also have Spectacularsunrise and Issam who are less exposed and progressive horses. We’re gambling on that pair continuing their progression and if they do, they would have every chance of winning again. Hopefully all four can run into the places at least but I think we have some winners here.
As always, if nothing else, this bet and the four horses within it, should provide us with plenty of entertainment across the ITV Racing action. Let’s hope it’s more than just entertainment received though come 4pm.
Below you will find a list of our recommended bookmaker partners and the bonuses for horse racing they are currently offering. As you will see, they can bring added value to your betting, and I strongly recommend you check them out!
