In addition to my main betting tip for today, I have another Saturday Lucky 15 for you! As usual, I have gone for the each way approach, and looked for value in the betting markets. I think I have found plenty for this week, and hopefully I’ll be proven correct!
For those not familiar with my articles, I’m RacingGav, the resident horse racing expert here at Betting.co.uk. Beyond writing articles here several times a week, I'm a professional racing tipster, a business I operate via my Discord server. For obvious reasons, most of my posts are focused on betting tips, which are mostly daily, but I do venture into antepost picks and fun bets like this Lucky 15. Unfiltered access to all of my tips can be found within my Discord; details of which can be found at the bottom of this page.
In addition to betting tips, I also cover big race trends, educational guides and much more! If you haven’t already seen my trends article for the Coral Gold Cup at Newbury today, be sure to check that out. Hopefully it can help you find the winner!
At the time of writing, William Hill is offering the best combined odds for my Lucky 15 picks. With individual prices of 7/2, 12/1, 7/1 and 13/2, they combine to overall odds of 3,509/1. In addition to that, William Hill is also paying out at ¼ odds for the place element across all four legs. All good things come in threes, and the third element is William Hill’s new customer sign up offer! If you bet £10, you’ll get £50 in free bets. With all of this fantastic value on offer, I say go for it!
With an each way Lucky 15 bet, when all the multiples come into play, four horses placing can be enough to generate a healthy return. Of course, if they all win, it’s a huge bonus, but let’s walk before we run. I feel all four of these horses have a fantastic chance of hitting the places, and they are all capable of winning too In these next sections, I’ll show you exactly why I picked them today.
Indemnity received an opening mark of 101 in the Spring and he’s made a mockery of the handicapper since. He won comfortably on Handicap debut and received a 7lb rise from 101 to 108. However, he won even more cosily at Warwick next time out, resulting in a further 7lb rise. With an extra 15lb to carry, he returned from a break to record the hat-trick win! This time the handicapper opted for a 6lb rise, taking the total to 20lb.
Off this new mark of 121, Indemnity went to Ascot for a competitive looking handicap. He was well fancied and sent off 3/1, second only to Alexei who was hammered into 13/8F. Indemnity took a keen hold that day, which wouldn’t have helped his chances and he was going easily 2 out. He ultimately had no chance with the winner who went on to score by three lengths. Connections may have been a little disappointed he didn’t win initially but seeing Alexei go on to win the Greatwood Handicap Hurdle smoothly, must have eased the blow. Alexei is now rated 20lb higher than that day at Ascot, which makes the form read incredibly well.
If he can settle better here, he must have an incredible chance of continuing his progression and returning to winning ways. He’s on the short side at 7/2 for an each way multiple but I’m happy with that price, especially in the multiple context and hopefully he can kick us off to an excellent start.
I have already covered the case for Hyland in both my trends article for the Coral Gold Cup and in my Saturday tip article posted earlier today. Therefore, please check out those two articles to see my extensive case for this horse.
Long story short, he ticks an awful lot of boxes on the trends front and this has been the plan for him since the Grand National run. As long as it doesn’t get too soft, I feel he has a massive chance!
After the first two legs of this multiple run at Newbury, we make the switch over to Newcastle for the third leg. Our play comes in the Rehearsal Chase which is a valuable (£70,000) handicap chase over 2m7.5f. Remarkably Docpickedme won an even more valuable handicap at Doncaster in January - the Great Yorkshire Handicap Chase and yet he comes here off just 2lb higher.
Charlie Maggs rode him that day claiming 5lb, which I feel he is great value for. He maintains the partnership again today and brings Docpickedme’s already light weight of 10st 7lb down to just 10st 2lb. Docpickme’s trainer - Richard Hobson, seemingly has his horses in great form too, with the last two winning for him. If you backed all twelve of his horses that have run so far this season to a £1 level stake, you’d be in profit to the tune of +£4.25. Hopefully Docpickedme can further that great record here!
Last, but certainly not least, we have Rath Gaul Hill for the Samuel Drinkwater stable. This horse has a perfect record over today’s C&D with two wins from two races. He started a hat-trick of wins here in March 2024 and he landed the hat-trick back here in February. He was then given a tough task of racing in the Red Rum at Aintree from 3lb out of the handicap and he could only finish 6th.
Considering that was all first season over fences, there is every chance he continues his progression as a second season chaser. If anything, horses tend to hit their peak in their second season, which bodes well for Rath Gaul Hill. We also know he can perform fresh as the latest Newbury win came off the back of a 315-day absence. Off his correct mark now (3lb lower) and hopefully with further improvement to be unlocked, he can take his record at Newbury to 3/3!
I think Indemnity, Hyland, Docpickedme and Rath Gaul Hill have a great chance of outperforming their odds. Docpickedme is the old boy in the line up at the age of nine but at the same time, he’s proven and we know he can be competitive at this level off this sort of mark. The other three are all less exposed and open to further improvement.
On the terms quoted, the three shortest priced runners alone placing would see us in profit and if all four could hit the frame, we would see a near 6.5x return on our stake. As is always the case with these multiples, there is a small chance, but still a chance that we could land a gigantic win. If nothing else though, this bet should be good fun and provide you with plenty of entertainment this afternoon!
