The new Premier League season is just a week away and many fans will be preparing for the upcoming campaign. As well as placing an antepost bet or two, millions of people will be putting together their Fantasy Premier League squad for the upcoming round of matches.

We have launched a brand new betting.co.uk mini league for the 2024/25 season with some great prizes on offer. The winner of the overall league and the cup competition will be able to select a Premier League shirt of their choice. The same prize will be available to whoever tops the mini league on Christmas Day.

The Rise of FPL

The Fantasy Premier League game is free to play and has grown to be a cultural phenomenon around the world. Over 11 million players were involved last season. The idea is simple, select your squad of 15 players from the Premier League, staying within the £100 million budget. Pick a line-up, select a captain before the deadline and see how your team performs. Players accumulate points for their performances on the pitch and there is a knockout cup that kicks in towards the end of the campaign, the start date will be depending on how many teams are in the league.

Players move up and down in value depending on their popularity so getting in early on an under-owned asset could see your overall team value rise beyond the £100m mark, making further signings easier. Free transfers are available every week to allow managers to switch things up and these rules have been overhauled in the newest version, adding some extra spice to the format.

There are "chips" available at various stages which allow managers to go outside these normal parameters, but each of them can only be played once, including a mystery chip which is new for the 2024/25 season. More information will be available about this closer to the New Year. The game is a great balance of football knowledge and strategy which has seen it grow to one of the most popular free games in the UK.
