I hope you are all well and backing plenty of winners. Royal Ascot last week turned into a bit of a struggle. After starting with two good winners on the first day, things went slowly downhill as completely unexpected outsiders seemed to come from nowhere in just about every race!
Anyway, I thought today we would head for Newton Abbott for some evening Jumps action. Itās a meeting that Iām really looking forward to and I have two winning picks for you to get stuck into.
To start this week off, I have an offer from William Hill for you to consider. If you bet Ā£10, youāll get Ā£30 in free bets. Unless you already have an account, thereās no reason not to take advantage of this fantastic offer.
The opener at Newton Abbot is a pretty lukewarm affair and I wouldnāt give too many in the race strong chances. Clearance, running for Michael Blake, is the main danger in my eyes, as he has had some pretty solid form coming into the race won over C&D in June last year. That said, he has thrown in plenty of wobbly ones since then, but he is certainly more appealing than most.
Professor Calculus may not be too far away either, but Iām going to side with Enthused, who has been in really good form this season, despite being a beaten favourite last time out. He has generally been campaigned at 2m 4f, but the drop back to just over two miles shouldnāt be a problem for him. He has shown plenty of speed and itās not the strongest of races, barring the two Iāve already mentioned.
Enthused is still relatively unexposed at this distance and on the whole, he has jumped notably better over shorter distances, so he could have some unfinished business if he turns up on song again. Heās had plenty of support in the market and is surely open to more improvement in a race that shouldnāt take too much winning.
This 2m 5f Handicap Chase is an interesting race and I definitely want to take on the favourite. Farouk De Cheneau is likely to be hard to beat, but he hasnāt exactly seemed the most straightforward of rides. Fat Sam also looks to be a big danger in my eyes, especially if he is able to get into a good rhythm on his switch back to fences. That said, he has been quite tricky to win with, despite having what looked like a lenient mark at times.
So, Iām going to side with Midnight Jewel, who battled well to win last time out at Bangor where he beat Norley, a very likeable type from Ben Paulingās team. I think thatās decent enough form to bring into this race. Midnight Jewel needed every yard of the trip last time out and it looks like the slightly longer trip here will be of benefit to him.
He does go up 5lb for that Bangor win, but the pair were well clear of the rest and regardless of his Handicap mark here, he is surely going to stay better than most. Heās a very consistent horse, with seven wins to his name and plenty of places, so I think he is going to give a good account of himself again in a race that is more than manageable for him.
Thereās a fair chance that you already have a William Hill account and if thatās the case, then turn your attention to these other cracking bookie offers brought to you exclusively by Betting.co.uk
