Welcome back racing fans. We didn’t have a great deal of luck with our punting for most of last week, but we finally manged to turn things around on Saturday, with one winner coming in at 10/1 and a further two crossing the line at 7/2. So, let’s kick on from there.
It’s a whole new week and we’re starting off with some really decent Jumps action from Tipperary and Stratford. I have three strong selections for you, which I’m hoping can set us up for the rest of the week.
My NAP selection runs at Tipperary, where he should be able to finally break his maiden. Then, on the evening card at Stratford, I have two further winning picks for you to take a look at.
It’s always good to start the week with some free bets and today my best bookie offer comes from Bet Victor. All you have to do is bet £5 and you’ll get £30 in free bets in return.
In this Beginners’ Chase there are very few with decent enough credentials to be competitive. Galore Desassences has shown that he has a good engine in the past, but in his three starts since joining Gavin Cromwell, his form has only been lukewarm and his jumping has been very disappointing.
I think this is the time to side with Cayd Boy. He has been a frustrating horse to follow since he started Chasing, but I think this will be seventh time lucky for him. Despite not winning over fences, he finished just two lengths behind Impervious, who went on to win the Mares Chase and only has six lengths to find with Blue Lord from the Willie Mullins team, so we know he is more than capable.
He won't find too many better opportunities than this to get off the mark and the extra furlong should help him get his act together late on. He has plenty of experience, plenty of class and here at Tipperary, he can finally break his maiden over fences. Based on his earlier form, he easily beats this field and I think he will turn up here right on song.
This is a decent enough race and there are some very likeable types in the line up. Twelve-year-old Pink Eyed Pedro must be an absolute joy to own and he was seriously game last time out, when he held off a late challenge from Ike Sport and he’ll likely run a big race again here. Nasee, running for the Ireland-based Hanlon yard is making his first cross-channel journey and also has to be respected off a really low weight.
However, I think the one to be siding with is Red Force One, for the Philip Kirby team, who ticks a lot more boxes than most here. His latest two starts have been at Huntingdon, where he placed second over 2m 3f, and won over 2m 4f, respectively. It must be said that he jumped left most of the way round last time out, which is far from ideal on a tight right-handed track, but the switch to this left-handed track should balance that out.
Although he goes up 4lbs for that victory, he’s a strong enough traveller and one that looks to be improving over these longer trips. He is seemingly on an upward curve and could still have more to offer trying this 2m 6f trip for the first time. There’s a lot to suit him here and he’s already in peak form, I think it will be his time to shine again.
In the penultimate race of the evening at Stratford, I’m going to take on the Warren Greatrex- trained Line Of Descent again. As you will know, I tried this tactic last week, when I took him on at Southwell based on his sketchy jumping but it backfired on me. He actually ran really well, pulling clear over the final few furlongs and jumping beautifully the whole way round…
It’s possible that Line Of Descent has turned a corner and will put on another flawless performance, in which case he will be hard to beat. However, based on some of his previous efforts, I’m not prepared to take that on trust, so I’m going to give a chance to the eight-year-old Opening Bid instead.
He has been running over two miles mostly and won his last two races going away at the line. Although he will be stepping up in trip here, it should be well within his range and I think it’s all going to come down to tactics. I wouldn’t want to see him trying to dominate the field, he just needs to settle into the race and pick his moment.
If you already have a Bet Victor account, it’s no problem, there are over £250 of other free bet offers for you to take advantage of right here at Betting.co.uk.
