ITV Win is to shut down its online slots and bingo operation just four months after launching in the UK.
ITV is the UK’s most historic free-to-air commercial television broadcaster, but its expansion into offering real-money iGaming has proved to be short-lived, after its operational partner Richmond Atlantic was unable to secure a buyer and had no additional budget to invest into the project.
The bingo and slots sections of ITV Win’s website notifies visitors that ITVWin.com Bingo & Spins is to close at 12pm on Tuesday, 5 May.
Richmond Atlantic’s licensing page listed by British regulator the Gambling Commission shows it has had an active remote bingo license since December 5, 2025, and a remote casino license since December 9, 2024. Richmond Atlantic is reported to have said the primary reason for its failure to secure a buyer is rising online taxes in the UK.
At the start of this month, remote gaming duty, paid on online casino bets, increased from 21% of gross gaming yield (GGY) to 40%. This will be compounded in April 2027, when general betting duty, paid on online sports bets, will go up from 15% of GGY to 25%; bets on horseracing will be exempt.
The latter increase may not have impacted ITV Win directly, but could contribute to the market becoming generally less attractive to investors.
Richmond Atlantic, based in Gibraltar, entered a pitching process to partner with ITV Win in February 2025, and won the contract the following July. At the time, the online tax increases had not been announced, but the issue of the potential rises was being widely discussed in the industry and the Treasury had opened a consultation on the matter before that point, which closed on July 21.
The increases were eventually announced in the November Budget by Chancellor Rachel Reeves, which was shortly before the announcement of ITV Win Bingo & Spins in December and the subsequent launch in January. ITV Win had previously only offered competitions and prize draws, but this was rebranded to the new name of ITV Win Bingo & Spins.
ITV also onboarded supplier Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) to power its online casino and bingo offering. The online casino section is primarily geared towards slot games, but also offers slingo games, a hybrid version of slots and bingo. The full roll-out came at the start of 2026 along with a TV advertising campaign.
BVGroup, which operates BetVictor, is reported to have considered taking over ITV Win Bingo & Spins via a deal with Richmond Atlantic. BVGroup has a background in running betting brands in association with broadcasters, as it also operates Heart Bingo and TalkSport Bet, which are both primarily known for being radio broadcasters. However, Richmond Atlantic and BVGroup were unable to reach an agreement
An ITV spokesperson is quoted as saying:
“Sadly, we understand that Richmond Atlantic, the operator of the ITV Win Bingo and Spins website, is unable to continue trading and so the business and the site is being wound down. All customers have been informed of the closure and asked to withdraw their money from their accounts.
“Anyone who is unable to do so within the allocated period will then be contacted manually to withdraw their funds, in line with UKGC [Gambling Commission] regulations.”
