Two longshot bets for the Abu Dhabi Championship

It’s time to move on to my longshot betting tips for the 2024 Abu Dhabi Championship. Both selections have live outside chances, and come with triple-figure price tags attached. Both have the skills to get seriously involved if they can bring their best game to this tournament. I’ve been looking for players with a solid iron game and a good short game too. Both of my picks tick the right boxes on paper, and I’m willing to give them a chance to prove it. Ewen Ferguson @ 100/1

My first longshot betting tip for this week’s event is Ewen Ferguson. He is a supremely good ball striker, particularly with his irons, which is a key skill needed here. He hasn’t had the best season due to a few niggling injuries early on, which hasn’t helped his momentum, but he is starting to play well again and could be ready to put on a big performance.

As a multiple winner on the DP World Tour already, we all know he is more than capable, so the bookies are being very generous by offering 100/1. Although there are a few players in this field with similar credentials, there aren’t many who play links golf as well as Ewen Ferguson does. I think he is highly overpriced for this week’s tournament, and I’m hoping he will come here fresh and ready to go for this ultimate links golf challenge.

Marcel Siem @ 300/1

My second longshot pick is Marcel Siem. He is what I would call a bit more left field, but he is another very capable player. I have followed Marcel closely for quite a few years now, and I have seen him play some seriously good golf around similar courses. Despite the Yas Links course being a touch longer than most, he must come into the equation here.

Once he gets some momentum going, he has the capability to shoot some seriously low scores. Judging by some of his previous performances, even if he is trailing by a fair few shots heading into the final rounds, he still has a chance of pulling it back and getting into the places. He is a very attacking player from tee to green, and his short game is absolutely superb. Marcel Siem has every chance to do well here, and I think he might just surprise a few people this week.
