Now that my main bets for the Alfred Dunhill Links are live, it’s time to reveal my two longshots, who are both worth considering. One is definitely trending in the right direction and the other is a previous winner on Tour. These two players both have the skills necessary to do well in this tournament, and their prices are way too big to overlook.
Look no further than Coral if you want the best prices and place terms for this week’s golf event. And if you don’t already have an account there, then there’s a free bet deal you can take advantage of too. Bet £5, and you’ll get £20 in free bets. The perfect way to leverage my longshot picks.
My first longshot pick is Dan Hillier, who is a very good golfer on his day and has definitely been trending in the right direction over the last few weeks. Dan is a player who ticks all of the right boxes when he’s on form, and his top 18 finish in the BMW Championship two weeks ago suggests that he is well on the way to returning to his best.
But even when he hasn’t been playing well,
his short game has remained consistently good, and the fact he is now starting to hit the ball much better again gives me hope for this week. He has a decent record around links-style golf courses, and I think he has all the tools to play really well in this week’s event. As the world number 205 player, he certainly looks overpriced to me.
My second longshot selection is Tom Vaillant. He is still a maiden on the DP World Tour, but he has really caught my eye this season. Tom is ranked at world number 375 who is a very attacking golfer with a wicked short game. He hits a nice soft fade, which I particularly like for these golf courses, and he has just one mode of play which is attack, attack, attack.
Tom has typically played well in most events this year, but he is seen at his best when he gets off to a good start, and I see no reason why he shouldn’t be able to build on that this week. He seems to really enjoy playing on the big stage, and I’m expecting a big performance from Tom Vaillant this week. He would need to be on his very best form to make a breakthrough this week, but with eight places available, he is certainly worth a second look at a huge triple-figure price.
