This week the DP World Tour heads to Germany for the BMW International Open. I have already posted my two best betting tips for this week, but here, I’m bringing you two longshots to consider - and both have a really good chance of outplaying their 200/1 odds..
Unfortunately, things didn’t go quite according to plan for my Italian Open longshots last week. Francesco Laporta started with a superb score of 66 in the first round to put him in a tie for fifth, but he had a very poor second round. To the point where he missed the cut after a score of 76 on Friday. It was a similar story for Clement Sordet, but the other way around. He started with a poor round one score of 78, before playing much better in round two, but by then the damage was already done. Both players will be back to form sooner or later though, and they are worth keeping an eye on over the coming months, especially at iron-dominated golf courses
The two players I have for this week are definitely capable of winning on the DP World Tour and hopefully, we can have a better result. The Munchen Golf Club suits both players quite well on paper, and if they can bring their best games, we could secure ourselves some nice profit for the week.
With six places and red hot prices, BetUK is my bookie pick for these two longshots. And if you don’t already have an account there, you can grab a free bet deal too. If you
bet £10, you’ll get £30 in free bets. What better way to make the most of my betting tips!
My first longshot is South African player Casey Jarvis. He is still a maiden on the DP World Tour, but he has time on his side and suits this long type of course a lot better than many that will play here this week. In previous years he has been rather unpredictable, as in following low scores with a poor round, but looks much more at home on Tour this season, and has managed to get himself into contention on a much more regular basis.
Back in April, Casey Jarvis was leading the ISPS Handa Championship in Japan before failing to fire in the final round. However, that was a big improvement from him, especially so in unfamiliar territory at the top of the leaderboard, and I think he will go on to build on that performance. It is important to remember that
he only turned professional in 2022, yet he is rising up through the world rankings at a decent rate. I believe he is going under the radar here, and it would be no surprise to see him back at the top of the leaderboard come Sunday. This is a prime opportunity for a talented player who has all the attributes required to win on this course.
Longshot pick number two is David Ravetto. He is a very good player, who turned pro in 2020 and broke his maiden on the Challenge Tour by winning the Dimension Data Open back in February. And that was truly a superb performance in a high-profile event. He is quite a long hitter, which is definitely a benefit for this week and his best form comes on longer golf courses, so he fits the bill quite well here.
He is starting to find his feet a little more on the DP World Tour and as an improving player, I believe that he is well worth a second look at this risk-and-reward type of golf course. When he strikes the ball well in the earlier rounds of a tournament, then he usually maintains consistency throughout an event. And I for one will be keeping a close eye on him in Thursday's opening round, which could ultimately dictate what comes next. In my opinion, he has a very good set of overall golfing skills and his short game is right up there with the best in the field. Definitely worth a close look this week.
