If you’ve already seen my earlier post then you’ll already know that this looks set to be a really good event. I have already given you my two best bets, but I also have two longshots for you to consider, who both seem well overpriced in my opinion.
We haven’t seen a DP World Tour event for over four weeks, so most of the players competing in the Czech Masters come here fresh from a break. That will make for some drama no doubt, and I think that either of the two players I have found for this week are both more than capable of causing an upset here. These are only small EW stake selections, but if they can sneak into the places, then we are looking at a decent profit so let’s get into it, and see how they get on.
Bet365 provides us with the most optimal terms for my longshots, and if you don’t already have an account there, then consider this offer. If you bet £10, then you’ll get £30 in free bets. You’ve got nothing to lose, and everything to gain by giving this deal a try guys.
My first longshot this week is Jack Davidson, who is a seriously talented player on his day. He is yet to break his maiden on the DP World Tour, but is looking more and more comfortable on the big stage, and I think he has the right attributes for this week’s challenge. He is quite long off the tee, and despite losing a few yards in recent years, he has actually gained more consistency. He is hitting more fairways in regulation, which can only be a positive this week, and his iron play is very consistent too.
He finished in a tie for 13th at the BMW International Open and put in a solid performance over all four days, which showed us exactly what he is capable of. Although he has missed a fair few cuts this year, he certainly hasn’t been disgraced either. We’ve seen a lot of solid rounds, which were sometimes spoiled by poor putting, but this isn’t really a concern as we’ve seen more good than bad in most of his tournaments.
Another thing I like about Jack, is that when he gets on a run, he is more than capable of putting in some low scores and he has buckets of class. If he can get his short game right here, it would be no surprise to me if he featured in the places this week.
My second longshot pick for the Czech Masters is Darius Van Driel, who won the Magical Kenya Open this year. He isn’t the longest off the tee, but he consistently hits a high average for fairways in regulation, and he’s also a very solid iron player, which more than makes up for his lack of distance. He has put up a lot of decent results this year, and seems to enjoy courses where iron play is important, so he already looks to have a lot of plus points for me.
But there's more, Darius has a very good short game and also a very high percentage of sand saves, coming in at 6% higher than the Tour average. As mentioned in my main betting tips post, this course has tons of bunkers around the greens, so his previous form in that department could easily bail him out if need be. He is coming into this event having missed four cuts, but he hasn’t been playing badly and the four week break will surely have done him no harm. I believe that Darius Van Driel has a huge chance, at a massive price, to make the places here.
