Racing fans, we’re going to get straight into it tonight. We have an evening card over at Chepstow on Friday and I have a Lucky 15 lined up for you. For anyone not in the know, a Lucky 15 is a combined bet type that includes singles, doubles, trebles and a fourfold accumulator, so all of our bases are covered and hopefully we can make a profit before the weekend action gets underway.
On Saturday, there’s a really good card at Sandown, but it’s not the only venue with fantastic racing this weekend, we really are spoiled for choice. I’m not 100% sure what my plan is just yet with so much going on, but I’ll definitely be loading you up with plenty more betting tips. So, don’t forget to pop back in tomorrow for all of my Saturday goodies.
Make sure you’re ready for a busy weekend of racing with some free bets, courtesy of Bet Victor. All you need to do is sign up,
bet £5, and you’ll get £30 in free bets. You really can’t go wrong if you’re planning on some weekend punting.
The first leg of my Lucky 15 comes in the opener, and there are quite a few nice types in the field. Floating Line is an interesting runner for Nicky Henderson and she will more than likely improve following on from her Hurdles debut. My worry with her is that she has yet to achieve any fluency over her jumps, which is something of a necessity around Chepstow.
Which means my pick here is She's My Shadow, for Robert Llewellyn, who sets a really decent standard on paper. Her Hurdles debut here two weeks ago was very eye-catching. She travelled well for the most part and stayed on well, so I’m sure this small step up in trip will suit. She will need to improve on that run a little, but I think she’s back here with a big chance.
In this Handicap Hurdle I’m rather taken with Dan Skelton’s low-weighted contender Lunar Sovereign. I’m not saying there aren't some decent horses in this field, but the majority have been out of form for a while now.
Lunar Sovereign is a very lightly-raced eight-year-old who is still open to plenty still off his mark. Even though he hasn’t won for the Skelton team so far, his last start here at Chepstow two weeks ago was very encouraging, especially considering he has been off the track for the best part of a year.
Although he finished 10 lengths off Zambezi Fix, he was still in contention before the last Hurdle and he is likely to strip much fitter
here.
The Maiden Hurdle here shouldn’t take much winning and the Nicky Henderson runner Break My Soul looks a very solid option. She has had three starts so far and even though she hasn’t won over Hurdles so far, she is definitely getting the hang of things and will take a lot of beating in this race. She has an official rating of 106 and It’s hard to see many of the others capable of hitting that number so early in their careers. She looks like banker material to me, and should get the job done easily enough.
The final leg of my Lucky 15 comes in the last race at Chepstow and I have a cracker here for you. Don’t get me wrong, this race will take a fair bit of winning and there are a lot of well-exposed horses in this field. Florencethemachine has a lot of potential but seems an awkward ride, whilst Sister Michael isn’t too badly handicapped on his best form.
But I like how this race might just set up right for Halifax, who runs for Grace Harrs. He is a nice horse and has become quite consistent too. He ran well enough last time out to finish fourth at Market Rasen, and dropped another 1lb for that effort, so he is still on a workable mark. His last win came on a fast surface and Chepstow suits this gelding nicely, so on this ground, he is well worth another shot.
