Letās dare to be different! For Friday's racing, I have a cross-card Lucky 15 for you to take a look at. The selections I have come from Haydock, Newbury, Killarney and Nottingham, and Iām hopeful that we can bring in some profit before we head into the weekend. The first of the four is probably the riskiest, but I think this three-year-old has a good chance of beating the older horses.
My NAP selection runs in the final leg of my Lucky 15, and a repeat performance of her recent course and distance win will make her seriously tough to beat here. For Saturday, Iāll be focusing on the three Group races over at the Curragh, with a preview and verdict for each race, including the Group 1 Irish Oaks, where the lineup looks absolutely full of class. So thereās something for you to look forward to!
Nobody can say that BetUK doesnāt roll out the red carpet for its punters, as proven by this cracking deal. If you bet Ā£10, youāll get Ā£30 in free bets. No BetUK account yet? Then youāve got nothing to lose by taking a look.
There is quite a high percentage of exposed horses running in this renewal of the Victor Handicap, but letās take a look at two that are not. One that makes plenty of appeal here on his best form is Starproof, for team Grassick, although he has been a tough one to win with of late. If he turns up in the right frame of mind then he has a chance, but heās a little too untrustworthy for my tastes.
I believe Iāve found a potential improver in the field that might be going under the radar. The horse I have in mind is the three-year-old Royal Elysian, who receives an age allowance and already has an official rating of 75. He has been a very consistent sort who is starting to get the hang of things and the softer conditions won't be an issue for him. He had a spin around Newbury over further than this as a two-year-old and stayed on really nicely, so he evidently has plenty of stamina. Itās always a risk taking on the older horses, but Royal Eysian has shown a decent amount of ability and itās unlikely we have seen the best of him yet.
In the Irish Bowl Stakes I see some nice sorts in the lineup, and several of them could turn out to be decent horses in the future. Dubai Bling was a beaten favourite last time out over six furlongs, but he may well improve for that experience. He is a strong travelling colt, who finished well, but the softer conditions do pose a question, and he may have to settle for place money once again.
The one that makes the most appeal to me here is the Godolphin runner,
Symbol Of Honour, who took a big step forward from his debut at Newmarket to win at Lingfield next time out. He travelled all over his rivals that day and powered away in the final furlong, showing clear ability. He then stepped up to Group 2 company at Royal Ascot, finishing sixth in the Coventry Stakes. He was boxed in for a good part of the race, and was subsequently outpaced while searching for a gap, but once in the clear, he stayed on really well just two lengths behind the winner. As a son of Havana Grey, who has Group wins on soft ground,
I fully expect Symbol Of Honour to handle these conditions
and he should be hard to beat here.
Over at Killarney, we have a nice looking Novicesā Chase with some useful runners in the field. Reverend Hubert got the better of Solitary Man when they met at Punchestown last month, and itās unlikely that there will be much between them again here. Both horses have a fair amount of ability, but how much improvement either of them has left is the question.
My thoughts are that the whole field could be vulnerable to Bowmore, who won for us last time out at Tipperary. He travelled like a really good horse and jumped superbly that day, which was pretty impressive considering it was his first start of the season. Of course, he will need to prove he can repeat that performance, because he has some useful sorts to contend with here, but off the back of his last run, I fully expect him to do exactly that.
My final selection comes in the small-field Sprint at Nottingham. Secret Handsheikh and Exponential are both nice sorts when they put their best foot forward, but their form is a little spotty these days. Thereās no denying that either of them could run a big race again, but I prefer a bit more consistency personally, and I feel that this pair have too many questions to answer.
And that brings me to my NAP bet of the day, which is course and distance winner Snow Berry. This little mare was very impressive last time out and looks like one that can build on that effort. She also handles the softer conditions, which are likely to come here. Snow Berry is a strong traveller and she has a really nice turn of foot, so just a repeat performance of her latest outing puts her nose in front. Iām convinced that her rivals wonāt be able to live with her in this race.
