We have another huge weekend of racing ahead of us, but before we get there, I've got another Friday Lucky 15 for you to take a look at. If you were following me last week you’ll already know that my Epsom Lucky 15 managed to land us four winners from four bets, and I’m hoping to see history repeat itself this time around.
Although I believe all four of my selections are more than capable of winning their respective races, I always advise going each way for this type of bet, and especially so this week as all four of these races are highly competitive. Looking ahead to the weekend, there’s plenty of racing action, so much in fact that I haven’t finalised my betting tips yet, but watch this space and rest assured that I’ll be putting up some strong selections for you very soon.
Thanks to BetUK, I have a great weekend offer for you. If you
bet £10, and you’ll get £30 in free bets. Your free bets come as follows - £10 for racing, £10 for the footie and £10 to use for a Bet Builder, so this is a spot on deal for weekend punters.
My first betting tip runs in a competitive Handicap Hurdle at Market Rasen, where I had a difficult decision to make. Star Legend is a horse I am really fond of, being a son of Galileo, and he is sure to go well here. He is a little high in the weights, but to compensate for that he has a decent 7lb claimer on board and in reality, he sets the standard here.
That said, I think If Karls Berg Did could beat him this time round, especially off a much more lenient mark. His last two starts before a 322 day break saw him winning in good style. To come back from that and run as well as he did on his seasonal reappearance makes me think there could still be more to come from him.
I will also point out that I was very disappointed with the ride he was given last time out. He travelled and jumped well, but he was held up for too long and let the winner get away. Off the back of that effort I can see him getting very competitive here, provided he is given a more prominent ride this time. On balance, I think he will take a step forward from his seasonal reappearance and If Karls Berg Did gets my nod.
My next selection comes at Thirsk in the six furlong Handicap and there are some very speedy sorts in the lineup. Noel Fox is a nice one for King Power, he clearly appreciated the drop back in trip last time out and was strong through the finish too. That form could turn out to be quite strong and he has to be a big danger to the field with connections keeping him at six furlongs.
However, I’m taking a chance on Karl Burke’s runner, Miss Bodacious, who finished strongly last time out to force a dead heat, and she could be open to plenty here as a three-year-old. She is a strong travelling filly who was left short of room last time, but when she got it she showed a cracking turn of foot and I expect her to take a big step forward on that basis.
She only has a mark of 74 at the moment, but that does not reflect her true ability. The fast ground should be ideal for her and I expect Miss Bodacious to put on a bold performance on her seasonal debut.
The race of the day is most surely the Symphony Hurdle, and this will be a seriously hot contest. I have always been a fan of Neil Mullholland’s Ike Sport, and despite the fact that he’s top-weight at 12st, he has plenty of pace and if he is well positioned on the home turn, I think he will be bang on at the finish.
Nevertheless, I think it’s worth taking a chance on All The Glory, a lovely mare running for the Jonjo O’Neill team. She is one for one here at Market Rasen and that course form should set her up nicely. Her mark of 123 is a career high, but I think she is good value for it.
She handles these conditions well, she is a strong travelling sort, and also a strong finisher. I think if All The Glory is patiently ridden, she will be firmly in the mix at the end of this race.
My final Lucky 15 pick runs in a Fillies’ Sprint over five furlongs. Bint Alfella makes some each way appeal for Kevin Ryan, and she is definitely one to follow going forward, but there is one in here that ticks all my boxes.
On this occasion, I think that Lotus Rose is the one to side with. She is a consistent filly over the five furlong trip, and she is also the only course and distance winner in the field. Her previous win here came off a mark of 69 and that form alone would make her tough to beat here.
But she has been creeping down in the weights and now runs off a mark 62, which is definitely a winning mark for her. Lotus Rose has the ideal conditions, back at a track she always goes well on, and now is a good opportunity for her to get back in the winner’s enclosure. She definitely has me backing her corner.
