Following a couple of weeks off because of the International Break, the Premier League is back with a bang this weekend. Defending champions and current leaders Man City are at home against second-placed Liverpool in a game that could prove crucial come the end of the campaign. Man City are clear favourites to win on home soil and can be backed at 13/20, but Liverpool have been in sensational form this season and could be worth a flutter at 16/5. Both sets of players will be up for this game with the winner spending the weekend on top of the ladder.

Man City might be sitting at the top of the Premier League ladder, but they have dropped a few points in recent weeks. They lost away at Arsenal in October thanks to a late goal from Gabriel Martinelli. They bounced back with three successive wins over Brighton, Manchester United and Bournemouth – scoring 11 goals altogether – but they were pegged back in an amazing 4-4 draw against Chelsea before the International Break. Liverpool are unbeaten in their last five matches in the Premier League. Since losing to Tottenham Hotspur at the end of September, the Reds have won three and drawn two. They travel to Man City on the back of a 3-0 win at Anfield against Brentford thanks to a brace from Mo Salah and one from Diogo Jota. Just one point separates these two famous clubs at the top of the table.
Man City have not lost on home soil in the Premier League to Liverpool since the Reds ran out 4-1 winners at the Etihad Stadium in November 2015. Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Martin Skrtel all scored after an own goal from Eliaquim Mangala put them ahead. Man City have won three of their last five home matches against Liverpool in the league with two ending up in draws. Man City won 4-1 the last time these two met with Julian Alvarez, Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan and Jack Grealish all scoring after Salah had given the Reds the lead.
I am always sceptical when a game like this is made out to be the best match of the season because more often than not they end up in a drab goalless draw. Thankfully, I cannot see that happening on Saturday. I have a feeling we will see some goals in this contest. Man City have scored eight goals in their last two home matches, while Liverpool have scored in every away Premier League game this season. Both teams have strong attacks, so there must be some goals scored. Despite both clubs knowing where the goal is, they can defend as well, so it should be a compelling game. I cannot see past a draw and with odds of 4/1 on that happening and both teams scoring, I feel that is a must.
