For Thursday's racing I have just the one bet for you coming from Market Rasen. She is a horse that won just a week ago who still looks very well handicapped for her in-form stable and I expect another big run from her here.
At the weekend we have some cracking action coming from Ascot, but at Haydock we are expecting to see Shishkin back in action, as he warms up for a bid at the King George on Boxing Day. I don’t expect him to be fully fit at this point, but nevertheless, I can’t wait to see him and I’m still expecting him to run a very good race
For Thursday's action I have chosen an old favourite of mine, William Hill. As a new customer you can get £30 in free bets, if you bet just £10. So, give my Market Rasen NAP a shot, then save your freebies for Saturday.
Market Rasen is a tricky little right-handed course that runs over undulating ground. A full circuit is just 1m 2f, so as you might imagine, there are some pretty sharp turns that can easily catch out the unwary. That said, the races here are often surprisingly fast-paced.
My only selection for Thursday, who also happens to be my NAP of the day, comes in the Pertemps Handicap Hurdle and she definitely ticks all of the right boxes to do well here.
Hugueneau, for the Dan Skelton team, has received plenty support and at the time of writing has been backed from 20s into 10s. However, while I was at Newbury yesterday Dan did happen to mention that plenty of his horses are really needing their first run, so that has me inclined to sidestep Hugueneau first time out.
Climate Precedent has already had a run and has scope to improve, but he is only a three-year-old, so this could be a tough ask. However, the James Owen team are flying at the moment, so he is definitely a danger.
Personally, I think this race is tailor-made for Lady Gwen and basically, it’s hers for the taking. She won really well at Taunton last week in a 15-runner event and she looked like she was ready to go again. She seems very straightforward; she jumps well and is highly likely to repeat her latest effort. Kim Bailey is in tip-top form at the minute, he had a very nice winner yesterday at Warwick with Percy Veering and I think Lady Gwen will be his next.
